4b176ae176 drm/i915: Don't grab crtc mutexes in intel_modeset_gem_init()
commit 7ad228b11e upstream.

When the pipe A force quirk is applied the code will attempt to grab
a crtc mutex during intel_modeset_setup_hw_state(). If we're already
holding all crtc mutexes this will obviously deadlock every time.

So instead of using drm_modeset_lock_all() just grab the
mode_config.mutex. This is enough to avoid the unlocked mutex warnings
from certain lower level functions.

The regression was introduced in:

ba8ee59850 drm/i915: fix DDI PLLs HW state readout code

6f02958728 drm/i915: Use the correct GMCH_CTRL register for Sandybridge+
commit a885b3ccc7 upstream.

The GMCH_CTRL register (or MGCC in the spec) is at a different address
on Sandybridge, and the address to which we currently write to is

Note that the register is still marked as locked RO on Sandybridge, so

fbd96bb876 drm/i915: don't update the dri1 breadcrumb with modesetting
commit 6c719faca2 upstream.

The update is horribly racy since it doesn't protect at all against
concurrent closing of the master fd. And it can't really since that
requires us to grab a mutex.

Instead of jumping through hoops and offloading this to a worker
thread just block this bit of code for the modesetting driver.

Note that the race is fairly easy to hit since we call the breadcrumb
function for any interrupt. So the vblank interrupt (which usually
keeps going for a bit) is enough. But even if we'd block this and only
update the breadcrumb for user interrupts from the CS we could hit
this race with kms/gem userspace: If a non-master is waiting somewhere
(and hence has interrupts enabled) and the master closes its fd
(probably due to crashing).

v2: Add a code comment to explain why fixing this for real isn't
really worth it. Also improve the commit message a bit.

v3: Fix the spelling in the comment.

5c9dce6be5 drm/i915: Take modeset locks around intel_modeset_setup_hw_state()
commit 0274766428 upstream.

Some lower level things get angry if we don't have modeset locks
during intel_modeset_setup_hw_state(). Actually the resume and
lid_notify codepaths alreday hold the locks, but the init codepath
doesn't, so fix that.

Note: This slipped through since we only disable pipes if the
plane/pipe linking doesn't match. Which is only relevant on older
gen3 mobile machines, if the BIOS fails to set up our preferred
linking.

84a0264e39 drm/radeon/audio: correct ACR table
commit 3e71985f24 upstream.

The values were taken from the HDMI spec, but they assumed
exact x/1.001 clocks. Since we round the clocks, we also need
to calculate different N and CTS values.

Note that the N for 25.2/1.001 MHz at 44.1 kHz audio is out of
spec. Hopefully this mode is rarely used and/or HDMI sinks
tolerate overly large values of N.

45da934f74 drm: Prevent overwriting from userspace underallocating core ioctl structs
commit b062672e30 upstream.

Apply the protections from

commit 1b2f148963
Author: Dave Airlie <airlied@redhat.com>
Date: Sat Aug 14 20:20:34 2010 +1000

drm: block userspace under allocating buffer and having drivers overwrite it (v2)

to the core ioctl structs as well, for we found one instance where there
is a 32-/64-bit size mismatch and were guilty of writing beyond the end
of the user's buffer.

09c2c79ce6 drm/vmwgfx: Don't kill clients on VT switch
commit c4249855ac upstream.

DRI clients that tried to grab the TTM lock when the master (X server) was
switched away during a VT switch were sent the SIGTERM signal by the
kernel. Fix this so that they are only sent that signal when the master has
exited.
