466721d767 drm/amd/display: Avoid reading audio pattern past AUDIO_CHANNELS_COUNT
commit 3dfe85fa87 upstream.

A faulty receiver might report an erroneous channel count. We
should guard against reading beyond AUDIO_CHANNELS_COUNT as
that would overflow the dpcd_pattern_period array.

68ae52efa1 drm/amd/display: don't ignore alpha property on pre-multiplied mode
commit e4f1541caf upstream.

"Pre-multiplied" is the default pixel blend mode for KMS/DRM, as
documented in supported_modes of drm_plane_create_blend_mode_property():
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/drm/drm-misc/tree/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_blend.c

In this mode, both 'pixel alpha' and 'plane alpha' participate in the
calculation, as described by the pixel blend mode formula in KMS/DRM
documentation:

out.rgb = plane_alpha * fg.rgb +
          (1 - (plane_alpha * fg.alpha)) * bg.rgb

Considering the blend config mechanisms we have in the driver so far,
the alpha mode that better fits this blend mode is the
_PER_PIXEL_ALPHA_COMBINED_GLOBAL_GAIN, where the value for global_gain
is the plane alpha (global_alpha).

With this change, alpha property stops to be ignored. It also addresses
Bug: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1734

v2:
 * keep the 8-bit value for global_alpha_value (Nicholas)
 * correct the logical ordering for combined global gain (Nicholas)
 * apply to dcn10 too (Nicholas)

4b44cd5840 drm/amd/display: Fix allocate_mst_payload assert on resume
[ Upstream commit f4346fb3ed ]

[Why]
On resume we do link detection for all non-MST connectors.
MST is handled separately. However the condition for telling
if connector is on mst branch is not enough for mst hub case.
Link detection for mst branch link leads to mst topology reset.
That causes assert in dc_link_allocate_mst_payload()

[How]
Use link type as indicator for mst link.

9c384e1afa drm/amd/display: Add affected crtcs to atomic state for dsc mst unplug
[ Upstream commit 128f8ed590 ]

[Why]
When display topology changed on DSC hub we add all crtcs with dsc support to
atomic state.
Refer to patch:"drm/amd/display: Trigger modesets on MST DSC connectors"
However the original implementation may skip crtc if the topology change
caused by unplug.
That potentially could lead to no-lightup or corruption on DSC hub after
unplug event on one of the connectors.

[How]
Update add_affected_mst_dsc_crtcs() to use old connector state
if new connector state has no crtc (undergoes modeset due to unplug)

19a7eba284 drm/amd/display: Fix a NULL pointer dereference in amdgpu_dm_connector_add_common_modes()
[ Upstream commit 588a70177d ]

In amdgpu_dm_connector_add_common_modes(), amdgpu_dm_create_common_mode()
is assigned to mode and is passed to drm_mode_probed_add() directly after
that. drm_mode_probed_add() passes &mode->head to list_add_tail(), and
there is a dereference of it in list_add_tail() without recoveries, which
could lead to NULL pointer dereference on failure of
amdgpu_dm_create_common_mode().

Fix this by adding a NULL check of mode.

This bug was found by a static analyzer.

Builds with 'make allyesconfig' show no new warnings,
and our static analyzer no longer warns about this code.

a0c73dbdd1 drm/amd/display: Force link_rate as LINK_RATE_RBR2 for 2018 15" Apple Retina panels
commit 30fbce3747 upstream.

The eDP link rate reported by the DP_MAX_LINK_RATE dpcd register (0xa) is
contradictory to the highest rate supported reported by
EDID (0xc = LINK_RATE_RBR2). The effects of this compounded with commit
'4a8ca46bae8a ("drm/amd/display: Default max bpc to 16 for eDP")' results
in no display modes being found and a dark panel.

For now, simply force the maximum supported link rate for the eDP attached
2018 15" Apple Retina panels.

Additionally, we must also check the firmware revision since the device ID
reported by the DPCD is identical to that of the more capable 16,1,
incorrectly quirking it. We also use said firmware check to quirk the
refreshed 15,1 models with Vega graphics as they use a slightly newer
firmware version.

775191dd4c drm/amd/display: Allow DSC on supported MST branch devices
commit 94ebc03545 upstream.

[Why]
When trying to lightup two 4k60 non-DSC displays behind a branch device
that supports DSC we can't lightup both at once due to bandwidth
limitations - each requires 48 VCPI slots but we only have 63.

[How]
The workaround already exists in the code but is guarded by a CONFIG
that cannot be set by the user and shouldn't need to be.

Check for specific branch device IDs to device whether to enable
the workaround for multiple display scenarios.

526261c1b7 amd/display: downgrade validation failure log level
[ Upstream commit 7bbee36d71 ]

In amdgpu_dm_atomic_check, dc_validate_global_state is called. On
failure this logs a warning to the kernel journal. However warnings
shouldn't be used for atomic test-only commit failures: user-space
might be perfoming a lot of atomic test-only commits to find the
best hardware configuration.

Downgrade the log to a regular DRM atomic message. While at it, use
the new device-aware logging infrastructure.

This fixes error messages in the kernel when running gamescope [1].

Date:   Thu Jul 8 18:28:37 2021 +0800

    [Why]
    We used to unconditionally set backlight path as AUX for panels capable

[Why]
Vertical and horizontal borders in timings are treated as increasing the
active area - vblank and hblank actually shrink.

Our input into DML does not include these borders so it incorrectly
assumes it has more time than available for vstartup and tmdl
calculations for some modes with borders.

An example of such a timing would be 640x480@72Hz:

h_total: 832
h_border_left: 8
h_addressable: 640
h_border_right: 8
h_front_porch: 16
h_sync_width: 40
v_total: 520
v_border_top: 8
v_addressable: 480
v_border_bottom: 8
v_front_porch: 1
v_sync_width: 3
pix_clk_100hz: 315000

[How]
Include borders as part of destination vactive/hactive.

This change DCN20+ so it has wide impact, but the destination vactive
and hactive are only really used for vstartup calculation anyway.

Most modes do not have vertical or horizontal borders.

c601693617 drm/amd/display: Reject non-zero src_y and src_x for video planes
commit c6c6a71219 upstream.

The system hang can be reproduced by gesturing the video on the YouTube

57c63b47d6 drm/amd/display: Fix DCN 3.01 DSCCLK validation
[ Upstream commit 346cf627fb ]

[why]
DSCCLK validation is not necessary because DSCCLK is derrived from
DISPCLK, therefore if DISPCLK validation passes, DSCCLK is valid, too.
Doing DSCLK validation in addition to DISPCLK leads to modes being
wrongly rejected when DSCCLK was incorrectly set outside of DML.

[how]
Remove DSCCLK validation because it's implicitly validated under DISPCLK
