There is a math problem here which leads to a lot of static checker
warnings for me:
net/sunrpc/clnt.c:451 rpc_new_client() error: (-4096) too low for ERR_PTR
Error values are from -1 to -4095 or from 0xffffffff to 0xfffff001 in
hexadecimal. (I am assuming a 32 bit system for simplicity). We are
using the lowest two bits to hold some internal XArray data so the
error is shifted two spaces to the left. 0xfffff001 << 2 is 0xffffc004.
And finally we want to check that BIT(1) is set so we add 2 which gives
us 0xffffc006.
In other words, we should be checking that "entry >= 0xffffc006", but
the check is actually testing if "entry >= 0xffffc002".

This switches to drm_atomic_helper_dirtyfb() as the framebuffer dirty
handler. All flushing will now happen in the pipe functions.
Also enable the damage plane property for all except repaper which can
only do full updates.

There is not currently way to infer the port number through sysfs that
is being used as the CPU port number. Overlay a ndo_get_phys_port_name()
operation onto the DSA master network device in order to retrieve that
information.

The bcm87xx and micrel driver has PHYs which are missing the .features

To support interlaced scan with planar formats, cpmem SLUV must
be programmed with the correct chroma line stride. For full and
partial planar 4:2:2 (YUV422P, NV16), chroma line stride must
be doubled. For full and partial planar 4:2:0 (YUV420, YVU420, NV12),
chroma line stride must _not_ be doubled, since a single chroma line
is shared by two luma lines.

The function ipu_csi_init_interface() was inverting the F-bit for
NTSC case, in the CCIR_CODE_1/2 registers. The result being that
for NTSC bottom-top field order, the CSI would swap fields and
capture in top-bottom order.
Instead, base field swap on the field order of the input to the CSI,
and the field order of the requested output. If the input/output
fields are sequential but different, swap fields, otherwise do
not swap. This requires passing both the input and output mbus
frame formats to ipu_csi_init_interface().
Move this code to a new private function ipu_csi_set_bt_interlaced_codes()
that programs the CCIR_CODE_1/2 registers for interlaced BT.656 (and
possibly interlaced BT.1120 in the future).
When detecting input video standard from the input frame width/height,
make sure to double height if input field type is alternate, since
in that case input height only includes lines for one field.

Adds two helper macros:
V4L2_FIELD_IS_SEQUENTIAL: returns true if the given field type is
'sequential', that is a full frame is transmitted, or exists in
memory, as all top field lines followed by all bottom field lines,
or vice-versa.
V4L2_FIELD_IS_INTERLACED: returns true if the given field type is
'interlaced', that is a full frame is transmitted, or exists in
memory, as top field lines interlaced with bottom field lines.

Allow to enable h.264 constrained intra prediction (macroblocks using
intra prediction modes are not allowed to use residual data and decoded
samples of neighboring macroblocks coded using inter prediction modes).
This control directly corresponds to the constrained_intra_pred_flag
field in the h.264 picture parameter set.

V4L2_BUF_TYPE_META_OUTPUT was added by commit 72148d1a57
("media: v4l: Add support for V4L2_BUF_TYPE_META_OUTPUT") but the patch
missed adding the type to the macro telling whether a given type is an
output type or not. Do that now. Getting this wrong leads to handling the
buffer as a capture buffer in a lot of places.

There were reports that PWC-based webcams don't work at some
embedded ARM platforms. [1] Isochronous transfer handler seems to
work too long leading to the issues in MUSB USB host subsystem.
Also note, that urb->giveback() handlers are still called with
disabled interrupts. In order to be able to measure performance of
PWC driver, traces are introduced in URB handler section.

Introduce iotlb_sync_map() callback that is invoked in the end of
iommu_map(). This new callback allows IOMMU drivers to avoid syncing
after mapping of each contiguous chunk and sync only when the whole
mapping is completed, optimizing performance of the mapping operation.

This prepares the MFD for the STMPE ADC driver. This commit introduces
devicetree settings that are used by the ADC and adds an init function.
Common ADC settings that are shared with the touchscreen driver can now
reside in the overlying MFD.

Commit 49e54187ae ("ata: libahci_platform: comply to PHY framework") uses
the PHY_MODE_SATA, but that enum had not yet been added. This caused a
build failure for me, with today's linux.git.
Also, there is a potentially conflicting (mis-named) PHY_MODE_SATA, hiding
in the Marvell Berlin SATA PHY driver.
Fix the build by:
1) Renaming Marvell's defined value to a more scoped name,
in order to avoid any potential conflicts: PHY_BERLIN_MODE_SATA.
2) Adding the missing enum, which was going to be added anyway as part
of [1].

So we have a situation where we do not pull in <linux/types.h>
when building for alpha and for ia64 we need even more definitions
are required.
Two invasive fixes where considered:
- Change all declarations of arch_irqs_disabled_flags() to use bool
- Add include of <linux/types.h> to all files that uses bool for
arch_irqs_disabled_flags
To invasive with a too high pain/benefit ratio, so dropped.
They would not cover ia64 either.
Some less invasive fixes was also considered:
- Add include of <linux/types.h> to drm_util.h
- Add include of <linux/interrupt.h> to drm_util.h
The first was dropped as this did not cover the ia64 case.
The latter was considered the best option as there could
be other similar cases and we would like the header files below
include/drm/ to be selfcontained.
So we end up pulling in a lot of stuff not needed, but this is
the price we pay in drm/ because the kernel headers are not all
selfcontained.
While at it, ordred the includefiles in drm_util in alphabetical order.
Build tested with alpha,ia64,arm,x86 with allmodconfig and allyesconfig.

Commit 65cab850f0 ("net: Allow class-e address assignment via ifconfig
ioctl") modified the IN_BADCLASS macro a bit, but unfortunatly one too
many '(' characters were added to the line, making any code that used
it, not build properly.
Also, the macro now compares an unsigned with a signed value, which
isn't ok, so fix that up by making both types match properly.

The changes introduced to allow rxrpc calls to be retried creates an issue
when it comes to refcounting afs_call structs. The problem is that when
rxrpc_send_data() queues the last packet for an asynchronous call, the
following sequence can occur:
(1) The notify_end_tx callback is invoked which causes the state in the
afs_call to be changed from AFS_CALL_CL_REQUESTING or
AFS_CALL_SV_REPLYING.
(2) afs_deliver_to_call() can then process event notifications from rxrpc
on the async_work queue.
(3) Delivery of events, such as an abort from the server, can cause the
afs_call state to be changed to AFS_CALL_COMPLETE on async_work.
(4) For an asynchronous call, afs_process_async_call() notes that the call
is complete and tried to clean up all the refs on async_work.
(5) rxrpc_send_data() might return the amount of data transferred
(success) or an error - which could in turn reflect a local error or a
received error.
Synchronising the clean up after rxrpc_kernel_send_data() returns an error
with the asynchronous cleanup is then tricky to get right.
Mostly revert commit c038a58ccf. The two API
functions the original commit added aren't currently used. This makes
rxrpc_kernel_send_data() always return successfully if it queued the data
it was given.
Note that this doesn't affect synchronous calls since their Rx notification
function merely pokes a wait queue and does not refcounting. The
asynchronous call notification function *has* to do refcounting and pass a
ref over the work item to avoid the need to sync the workqueue in call
cleanup.

IPv4 routing tables are flushed in two cases:
1. In response to events in the netdev and inetaddr notification chains
2. When a network namespace is being dismantled
In both cases only routes associated with a dead nexthop group are
flushed. However, a nexthop group will only be marked as dead in case it
is populated with actual nexthops using a nexthop device. This is not
the case when the route in question is an error route (e.g.,
'blackhole', 'unreachable').
Therefore, when a network namespace is being dismantled such routes are
not flushed and leaked [1].
To reproduce:
# ip netns add blue
# ip -n blue route add unreachable 192.0.2.0/24
# ip netns del blue
Fix this by not skipping error routes that are not marked with
RTNH_F_DEAD when flushing the routing tables.
To prevent the flushing of such routes in case #1, add a parameter to
fib_table_flush() that indicates if the table is flushed as part of
namespace dismantle or not.
Note that this problem does not exist in IPv6 since error routes are
associated with the loopback device.

snd_pcm_suspend() is no longer called from outside, so let's make it
local static. Also drop a superfluous NULL check there.

Until now we rely on each driver calling snd_pcm_suspend*() explicitly
at its own PM handling. However, this can be done far more easily by
setting the PM ops to each actual snd_pcm device object.
This patch adds the device_type object for PCM stream and assigns to
each PCM stream object. The type contains only the PM ops for system
suspend; we don't need to deal with the resume in general.
The suspend hook simply calls snd_pcm_suspend_all() for the given PCM
streams. This implies that the PM order is correctly put, i.e. PCM is
suspended before the main (or codec) driver, which should be true in
general. If a special ordering is needed, you'd need to adjust the
device PM order manually later.
This patch introduces a new flag, snd_pcm.no_device_suspend, too.
With this flag set, the PCM device object won't invoke
snd_pcm_suspend_all() by itself. This is needed for ASoC who wants to
manage the PM call orders in its serialized way, and the flag is set
in soc_new_pcm() as default.
For the non-ASoC world, we can get rid of the manual snd_pcm_suspend
calls. This will be done in the later patches.

Management Datagram Interface (MAD) is applicable
only when physical port is Infiniband. It makes MAD
command logic to be completely unrelated to eth/core
parts of mlx5.

Some transports (e.g. virtio-ccw) implement virtio operations that
seem to be a simple read/write as something more involved that
cannot be done from an atomic context.
Give at least a hint about that.
