13198d8023 ARM: 8808/1: kexec:offline panic_smp_self_stop CPU
[ Upstream commit 82c08c3e7f ]

In case panic() and panic() called at the same time on different CPUS.
For example:
CPU 0:
  panic()
     __crash_kexec
       machine_crash_shutdown
         crash_smp_send_stop
       machine_kexec
         BUG_ON(num_online_cpus() > 1);

CPU 1:
  panic()
    local_irq_disable
    panic_smp_self_stop

If CPU 1 calls panic_smp_self_stop() before crash_smp_send_stop(), kdump
fails. CPU1 can't receive the ipi irq, CPU1 will be always online.
To fix this problem, this patch split out the panic_smp_self_stop()
and add set_cpu_online(smp_processor_id(), false).

d609e4aa50 ARM: oabi-compat: copy semops using __copy_from_user()
Commit 8c8484a1c1 upstream.

__get_user_error() is used as a fast accessor to make copying structure
members as efficient as possible. However, with software PAN and the
recent Spectre variant 1, the efficiency is reduced as these are no
longer fast accessors.

In the case of software PAN, it has to switch the domain register around
each access, and with Spectre variant 1, it would have to repeat the
access_ok() check for each access.

Rather than using __get_user_error() to copy each semops element member,
copy each semops element in full using __copy_from_user().

9c91b96879 ARM: vfp: use __copy_from_user() when restoring VFP state
Commit 42019fc50d upstream.

__get_user_error() is used as a fast accessor to make copying structure
members in the signal handling path as efficient as possible. However,
with software PAN and the recent Spectre variant 1, the efficiency is
reduced as these are no longer fast accessors.

In the case of software PAN, it has to switch the domain register around
each access, and with Spectre variant 1, it would have to repeat the
access_ok() check for each access.

Use __copy_from_user() rather than __get_user_err() for individual
members when restoring VFP state.

50f032cc50 ARM: signal: copy registers using __copy_from_user()
Commit c32cd419d6 upstream.

__get_user_error() is used as a fast accessor to make copying structure
members in the signal handling path as efficient as possible. However,
with software PAN and the recent Spectre variant 1, the efficiency is
reduced as these are no longer fast accessors.

In the case of software PAN, it has to switch the domain register around
each access, and with Spectre variant 1, it would have to repeat the
access_ok() check for each access.

It becomes much more efficient to use __copy_from_user() instead, so
let's use this for the ARM integer registers.

901e325f77 ARM: bugs: add support for per-processor bug checking
Commit 9d3a04925d upstream.

Add support for per-processor bug checking - each processor function
descriptor gains a function pointer for this check, which must not be
an __init function. If non-NULL, this will be called whenever a CPU
enters the kernel via which ever path (boot CPU, secondary CPU startup,
CPU resuming, etc.)

This allows processor specific bug checks to validate that workaround
bits are properly enabled by firmware via all entry paths to the kernel.

35293cc543 ARM: bugs: hook processor bug checking into SMP and suspend paths
Commit 26602161b5 upstream.

Check for CPU bugs when secondary processors are being brought online,
and also when CPUs are resuming from a low power mode. This gives an
opportunity to check that processor specific bug workarounds are
correctly enabled for all paths that a CPU re-enters the kernel.

1475b5ab37 ARM: 8748/1: mm: Define vdso_start, vdso_end as array
[ Upstream commit 73b9160d0d ]

Define vdso_start, vdso_end as array to avoid compile-time analysis error
for the case of built with CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE.

and, since vdso_start, vdso_end are used in vdso.c only,
move extern-declaration from vdso.h to vdso.c.

If kernel is built with CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE,
compile-time error happens at this code.
- if (memcmp(&vdso_start, "177ELF", 4))

The size of "&vdso_start" is recognized as 1 byte, but n is 4,
So that compile-time error is reported.

10b408d632 ARM: 8771/1: kprobes: Prohibit kprobes on do_undefinstr
commit eb0146daef upstream.

Prohibit kprobes on do_undefinstr because kprobes on
arm is implemented by undefined instruction. This means
if we probe do_undefinstr(), it can cause infinit
recursive exception.

84c9248a24 ARM: 8668/1: ftrace: Fix dynamic ftrace with DEBUG_RODATA and !FRAME_POINTER
[ Upstream commit 6f05d0761a ]

The support for dynamic ftrace with CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA involves
overriding the weak arch_ftrace_update_code() with a variant which makes
the kernel text writable around the patching.

This override was however added under the CONFIG_OLD_MCOUNT ifdef, and
CONFIG_OLD_MCOUNT is only enabled if frame pointers are enabled.

This leads to non-functional dynamic ftrace (ftrace triggers a
WARN_ON()) when CONFIG_DEBUG_RODATA is enabled and CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER
is not.

Move the override out of that ifdef and into the CONFIG_DYNAMIC_FTRACE
ifdef where it belongs.

5bcb9c842a ARM: avoid faulting on qemu
commit 3aaf33bebd upstream.

When qemu starts a kernel in a bare environment, the default SCR has
the AW and FW bits clear, which means that the kernel can't modify
the PSR A or PSR F bits, and means that FIQs and imprecise aborts are
always masked.

When running uboot under qemu, the AW and FW SCR bits are set, and the
kernel functions normally - and this is how real hardware behaves.

Fix this for qemu by ignoring the FIQ bit.

6192f870ab ARM: BUG if jumping to usermode address in kernel mode
commit 8bafae202c upstream.

Detect if we are returning to usermode via the normal kernel exit paths
but the saved PSR value indicates that we are in kernel mode. This
could occur due to corrupted stack state, which has been observed with
"ftracetest".

This ensures that we catch the problem case before we get to user code.

1541afbfb4 ARM: 8720/1: ensure dump_instr() checks addr_limit
commit b9dd05c700 upstream.

When CONFIG_DEBUG_USER is enabled, it's possible for a user to
deliberately trigger dump_instr() with a chosen kernel address.

Let's avoid problems resulting from this by using get_user() rather than
__get_user(), ensuring that we don't erroneously access kernel memory.

So that we can use the same code to dump user instructions and kernel
instructions, the common dumping code is factored out to __dump_instr(),
with the fs manipulated appropriately in dump_instr() around calls to
this.

eefa5e13df ARM: 8637/1: Adjust memory boundaries after reservations
commit 985626564e upstream.

adjust_lowmem_bounds is responsible for setting up the boundary for
lowmem/highmem. This needs to be setup before memblock reservations can
occur. At the time memblock reservations can occur, memory can also be
removed from the system. The lowmem/highmem boundary and end of memory
may be affected by this but it is currently not recalculated. On some
systems this may be harmless, on others this may result in incorrect
ranges being passed to the main memory allocator. Correct this by
recalculating the lowmem/highmem boundary after all reservations have
been made.

1df21f45fd ARM: 8636/1: Cleanup sanity_check_meminfo
commit 374d446d25 upstream.

The logic for sanity_check_meminfo has become difficult to
follow. Clean up the code so it's more obvious what the code
is actually trying to do. Additionally, meminfo is now removed
so rename the function to better describe its purpose.

3304f5a1cb ARM: 8662/1: module: split core and init PLT sections
commit b7ede5a1f5 upstream.

Since commit 35fa91eed8 ("ARM: kernel: merge core and init PLTs"),
the ARM module PLT code allocates all PLT entries in a single core
section, since the overhead of having a separate init PLT section is
not justified by the small number of PLT entries usually required for
init code.

However, the core and init module regions are allocated independently,
and there is a corner case where the core region may be allocated from
the VMALLOC region if the dedicated module region is exhausted, but the
init region, being much smaller, can still be allocated from the module
region. This puts the PLT entries out of reach of the relocated branch
instructions, defeating the whole purpose of PLTs.

So split the core and init PLT regions, and name the latter ".init.plt"
so it gets allocated along with (and sufficiently close to) the .init
sections that it serves. Also, given that init PLT entries may need to
be emitted for branches that target the core module, modify the logic
that disregards defined symbols to only disregard symbols that are
defined in the same section.

007f0a2f2c arm: kernel: Add SMC structure parameter
[ Upstream commit 680a0873e1 ]

This patch adds a quirk parameter to the arm_smccc_(smc/hvc) calls.
The quirk structure allows for specialized SMC operations due to SoC
specific requirements. The current arm_smccc_(smc/hvc) is renamed and
macros are used instead to specify the standard arm_smccc_(smc/hvc) or
the arm_smccc_(smc/hvc)_quirk function.

This patch and partial implementation was suggested by Will Deacon.

61100bdefb ANDROID: arm: topology: Define TC2 energy and provide it to the scheduler
This patch is only here to be able to test provisioning of energy related
data from an arch topology shim layer to the scheduler. Since there is no
code today which deals with extracting energy related data from the dtb or
acpi, and process it in the topology shim layer, the content of the
sched_group_energy structures as well as the idle_state and capacity_state
arrays are hard-coded here.

This patch defines the sched_group_energy structure as well as the
idle_state and capacity_state array for the cluster (relates to sched
groups (sgs) in DIE sched domain level) and for the core (relates to sgs
in MC sd level) for a Cortex A7 as well as for a Cortex A15.
It further provides related implementations of the sched_domain_energy_f
functions (cpu_cluster_energy() and cpu_core_energy()).

To be able to propagate this information from the topology shim layer to
the scheduler, the elements of the arm_topology[] table have been
provisioned with the appropriate sched_domain_energy_f functions.

568913e203 ANDROID: arm: Enable max freq invariant scheduler load-tracking and capacity support
Maximum Frequency Invariance has to be part of Cpu Invariance because
Frequency Invariance deals only with differences in load-tracking
introduces by Dynamic Frequency Scaling and not with limiting the
possible range of cpu frequency.

By placing Maximum Frequency Invariance into Cpu Invariance,
load-tracking is scaled via arch_scale_cpu_capacity()
in __update_load_avg() and cpu capacity is scaled via
arch_scale_cpu_capacity() in update_cpu_capacity().

To be able to save the extra multiplication in the scheduler hotpath
(__update_load_avg()) we could:

 1 Inform cpufreq about base cpu capacity at boot and let it handle
   scale_cpu_capacity() as well.
 2 Use the cpufreq policy callback which would update a per-cpu current
   cpu_scale and this value would be return in scale_cpu_capacity().
 3 Use per-cpu current max_freq_scale and current cpu_scale with the
   current patch.

b4ca4bcfe1 ANDROID: arm: Cpu invariant scheduler load-tracking and capacity support
Provides the scheduler with a cpu scaling correction factor for more
accurate load-tracking and cpu capacity handling.

The Energy Model (EM) (in fact the capacity value of the last element
of the capacity states vector of the core (MC) level sched_group_energy
structure) is used instead of the arm arch specific cpu_efficiency and
dtb property 'clock-frequency' values as the source for this cpu
scaling factor.

The cpu capacity value depends on the micro-architecture and the
maximum frequency of the cpu.

The maximum frequency part should not be confused with the frequency
invariant scheduler load-tracking support which deals with frequency
related scaling due to DFVS functionality.

858d718840 ANDROID: sched: Introduce SD_SHARE_CAP_STATES sched_domain flag
cpufreq is currently keeping it a secret which cpus are sharing
clock source. The scheduler needs to know about clock domains as well
to become more energy aware. The SD_SHARE_CAP_STATES domain flag
indicates whether cpus belonging to the sched_domain share capacity
states (P-states).

There is no connection with cpufreq (yet). The flag must be set by
the arch specific topology code.

04c9fe6316 ARM: 8613/1: Fix the uaccess crash on PB11MPCore
commit 90f92c631b upstream.

The following patch was sketched by Russell in response to my
crashes on the PB11MPCore after the patch for software-based
priviledged no access support for ARMv8.1. See this thread:
http://marc.info/?l=linux-arm-kernel&m=144051749807214&w=2

I am unsure what is going on, I suspect everyone involved in
the discussion is. I just want to repost this to get the
discussion restarted, as I still have to apply this patch
with every kernel iteration to get my PB11MPCore Realview
running.

Testing by Neil Armstrong on the Oxnas NAS has revealed that
this bug exist also on that widely deployed hardware, so
we are probably currently regressing all ARM11MPCore systems.

df35a8f51f ARM: 8634/1: hw_breakpoint: blacklist Scorpion CPUs
commit ddc37832a1 upstream.

On APQ8060, the kernel crashes in arch_hw_breakpoint_init, taking an
undefined instruction trap within write_wb_reg. This is because Scorpion
CPUs erroneously appear to set DBGPRSR.SPD when WFI is issued, even if
the core is not powered down. When DBGPRSR.SPD is set, breakpoint and
watchpoint registers are treated as undefined.

It's possible to trigger similar crashes later on from userspace, by
requesting the kernel to install a breakpoint or watchpoint, as we can
go idle at any point between the reset of the debug registers and their
later use. This has always been the case.

Given that this has always been broken, no-one has complained until now,
and there is no clear workaround, disable hardware breakpoints and
watchpoints on Scorpion to avoid these issues.
