3003149c65 platform/x86: asus-nb-wmi: Drop mapping of 0x33 and 0x34 scan codes
[ Upstream commit 71b12beaf1 ]

According to Asus firmware engineers, the meaning of these codes is only
to notify the OS that the screen brightness has been turned on/off by
the EC. This does not match the meaning of KEY_DISPLAYTOGGLE /
KEY_DISPLAY_OFF, where userspace is expected to change the display
brightness.

c4819f02e3 platform/x86: asus-nb-wmi: Map 0x35 to KEY_SCREENLOCK
[ Upstream commit b3f2f3799a ]

When the OS registers to handle events from the display off hotkey the
EC will send a notification with 0x35 for every key press, independent
of the backlight state.

The behavior of this key on Windows, with the ATKACPI driver from Asus
installed, is turning off the backlight of all connected displays with a
fading effect, and any cursor input or key press turning the backlight
back on. The key press or cursor input that wakes up the display is also
passed through to the application under the cursor or under focus.

The key that matches this behavior the closest is KEY_SCREENLOCK.

dfc711a448 platform/x86: asus-wmi: Tell the EC the OS will handle the display off hotkey
[ Upstream commit 78f3ac76d9 ]

In the past, Asus firmwares would change the panel backlight directly
through the EC when the display off hotkey (Fn+F7) was pressed, and
only notify the OS of such change, with 0x33 when the LCD was ON and
0x34 when the LCD was OFF. These are currently mapped to
KEY_DISPLAYTOGGLE and KEY_DISPLAY_OFF, respectively.

Most recently the EC on Asus most machines lost ability to toggle the
LCD backlight directly, but unless the OS informs the firmware it is
going to handle the display toggle hotkey events, the firmware still
tries change the brightness through the EC, to no effect. The end result
is a long list (at Endless we counted 11) of Asus laptop models where
the display toggle hotkey does not perform any action. Our firmware
engineers contacts at Asus were surprised that there were still machines
out there with the old behavior.

Calling WMNB(ASUS_WMI_DEVID_BACKLIGHT==0x00050011, 2) on the _WDG device
tells the firmware that it should let the OS handle the display toggle
event, in which case it will simply notify the OS of a key press with
0x35, as shown by the DSDT excerpts bellow.

9c0f309d6e platform/x86: acerhdf: Add BIOS entry for Gateway LT31 v1.3307
[ Upstream commit 684238d79a ]

To fix:

acerhdf: unknown (unsupported) BIOS version Gateway /LT31 /v1.3307 , please report, aborting!

As can be seen in the context, the BIOS registers haven't changed in
the previous versions, so the assumption is they won't have changed
in this last update for this somewhat older platform either.

ebaf1e35da platform/x86: intel_telemetry: report debugfs failure
[ Upstream commit 8d98b1ef36 ]

On some Goldmont based systems such as ASRock J3455M the BIOS may not
enable the IPC1 device that provides access to the PMC and PUNIT. In
such scenarios, the IOSS and PSS resources from the platform device can
not be obtained and result in a invalid telemetry_plt_config which is an
internal data structure that holds platform config and is maintained by
the telemetry platform driver.

This is also applicable to the platforms where the BIOS supports IPC1
device under debug configurations but IPC1 is disabled by user or the
policy.

This change allows user to know the reason for not seeing entries under
/sys/kernel/debug/telemetry/* when there is no apparent failure at boot.

c5a92c4b4b platform/x86: acer-wmi: setup accelerometer when ACPI device was found
[ Upstream commit f9ac89f5ad ]

The 98d610c373 patch was introduced since v4.11-rc1 that it causes
that the accelerometer input device will not be created on workable
machines because the HID string comparing logic is wrong.

And, the patch doesn't prevent that the accelerometer input device
be created on the machines that have no BST0001. That's because
the acpi_get_devices() returns success even it didn't find any
match device.

This patch fixed the HID string comparing logic of BST0001 device.
And, it also makes sure that the acpi_get_devices() returns
acpi_handle for BST0001.

a801ff4d8e platform/x86: asus-wireless: Fix NULL pointer dereference
commit 9f0a93de91 upstream.

When the module is removed the led workqueue is destroyed in the remove
callback, before the led device is unregistered from the led subsystem.

This leads to a NULL pointer derefence when the led device is
unregistered automatically later as part of the module removal cleanup.
Bellow is the backtrace showing the problem.

236738a6df platform/chrome: Use proper protocol transfer function
[ Upstream commit d48b8c58c5 ]

pkt_xfer should be used for protocol v3, and cmd_xfer otherwise. We had
one instance of these functions correct, but not the second, fall-back
case. We use the fall-back only when the first command returns an
IN_PROGRESS status, which is only used on some EC firmwares where we
don't want to constantly poll the bus, but instead back off and
sleep/retry for a little while.

64ab063b71 platform/x86: wmi: Call acpi_wmi_init() later
commit 98b8e4e5c1 upstream.

Calling acpi_wmi_init() at the subsys_initcall() level causes ordering
issues to appear on some systems and they are difficult to reproduce,
because there is no guaranteed ordering between subsys_initcall()
calls, so they may occur in different orders on different systems.

In particular, commit 86d9f48534 (mm/slab: fix kmemcg cache
creation delayed issue) exposed one of these issues where genl_init()
and acpi_wmi_init() are both called at the same initcall level, but
the former must run before the latter so as to avoid a NULL pointer
dereference.

For this reason, move the acpi_wmi_init() invocation to the
initcall_sync level which should still be early enough for things
to work correctly in the WMI land.

dbeb719e24 platform/x86: asus-wireless: send an EV_SYN/SYN_REPORT between state changes
commit bff5bf9db1 upstream.

Sending the switch state change twice within the same frame is invalid
evdev protocol and only works if the client handles keys immediately as
well. Processing events immediately is incorrect, it forces a fake
order of events that does not exist on the device.

Recent versions of libinput changed to only process the device state and
SYN_REPORT time, so now the key event is lost.

e2fce5a557 platform/x86: hp_accel: Add quirk for HP ProBook 440 G4
[ Upstream commit 163ca80013 ]

Added support for HP ProBook 440 G4 laptops by including the accelerometer
orientation quirk for that device. Testing was performed based on the
axis orientation guidelines here:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/misc-devices/lis3lv02d
which states "If the left side is elevated, X increases (becomes positive)".

When tested, on lifting the left edge, x values became increasingly negative
thus indicating an inverted x-axis on the installed lis3lv02d chip.
This was compensated by adding an entry for this device in hp_accel.c
specifying the quirk as x_inverted. The patch was tested on a
ProBook 440 G4 device and x-axis as well as y and z-axis values are now
generated as per spec.

abc4b4420a platform/x86: intel_punit_ipc: Fix resource ioremap warning
[ Upstream commit 6cc8cbbc88 ]

For PUNIT device, ISPDRIVER_IPC and GTDDRIVER_IPC resources are not
mandatory. So when PMC IPC driver creates a PUNIT device, if these
resources are not available then it creates dummy resource entries for
these missing resources. But during PUNIT device probe, doing ioremap on
these dummy resources generates following warning messages.

intel_punit_ipc: can't request region for resource [mem 0x00000000]
intel_punit_ipc: can't request region for resource [mem 0x00000000]
intel_punit_ipc: can't request region for resource [mem 0x00000000]
intel_punit_ipc: can't request region for resource [mem 0x00000000]

This patch fixes this issue by adding extra check for resource size
before performing ioremap operation.

07e415ac5c platform/x86: hp-wmi: Do not shadow error values
commit d313876925 upstream.

All the helper functions (i.e. hp_wmi_dock_state, hp_wmi_tablet_state,
...) using hp_wmi_perform_query to perform an HP WMI query shadow the
returned value in case of error.

We return -EINVAL only when the HP WMI query returns a positive value
(the specific error code) to not mix this up with the actual value
returned by the helper function.

commit c7dfc2facb upstream.

hp_wmi_tablet_state() fails to return the correct error code when
hp_wmi_perform_query() returns the HP WMI query specific error code
that is a positive value.

047b67372d platform/x86: hp-wmi: Fix detection for dock and tablet mode
commit 298747b757 upstream.

The current driver code is not checking for the error values returned by
'hp_wmi_dock_state()' and 'hp_wmi_tablet_state()' before passing the
returned values down to 'input_report_switch()'. This error code is
being translated to '1' in the input subsystem, reporting the wrong
status.

The biggest problem caused by this issue is that several laptops are
wrongly reported by the driver as docked, preventing them to be put to
sleep using the LID (and in most cases they are not even dockable).

With this patch we create the report switches only if we are able to
read the dock and tablet mode status correctly from ACPI.

c3f0c2c140 platform/x86: intel_mid_thermal: Fix module autoload
[ Upstream commit a93151a720 ]

If the driver is built as a module, autoload won't work because the module
alias information is not filled. So user-space can't match the registered
device with the corresponding module.

Export the module alias information using the MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() macro.

Before this patch:

$ modinfo drivers/platform/x86/intel_mid_thermal.ko | grep alias
$

After this patch:

$ modinfo drivers/platform/x86/intel_mid_thermal.ko | grep alias

e99d86d76e platform/x86: ideapad-laptop: handle ACPI event 1
[ Upstream commit cfee5d6376 ]

On Ideapad laptops, ACPI event 1 is currently not handled. Many models
log "ideapad_laptop: Unknown event: 1" every 20 seconds or so while
running on battery power. Some convertible laptops receive this event
when switching in and out of tablet mode.

This adds and additional case for event 1 in ideapad_acpi_notify to call
ideapad_input_report(priv, vpc_bit), so that the event is reported to
userspace and we avoid unnecessary logging.

03470ba96a platform/x86: acer-wmi: setup accelerometer when machine has appropriate notify event
commit 98d610c373 upstream.

The accelerometer event relies on the ACERWMID_EVENT_GUID notify.
So, this patch changes the codes to setup accelerometer input device
when detected ACERWMID_EVENT_GUID. It avoids that the accel input
device created on every Acer machines.

In addition, patch adds a clearly parsing logic of accelerometer hid
to acer_wmi_get_handle_cb callback function. It is positive matching
the "SENR" name with "BST0001" device to avoid non-supported hardware.
