50449aafb8 fuse: call pipe_buf_release() under pipe lock
commit 9509941e9c upstream.

Some of the pipe_buf_release() handlers seem to assume that the pipe is
locked - in particular, anon_pipe_buf_release() accesses pipe->tmp_page
without taking any extra locks. From a glance through the callers of
pipe_buf_release(), it looks like FUSE is the only one that calls
pipe_buf_release() without having the pipe locked.

This bug should only lead to a memory leak, nothing terrible.

d180feedae fuse: fix leaked notify reply
commit 7fabaf3034 upstream.

fuse_request_send_notify_reply() may fail if the connection was reset for
some reason (e.g. fs was unmounted). Don't leak request reference in this
case. Besides leaking memory, this resulted in fc->num_waiting not being
decremented and hence fuse_wait_aborted() left in a hanging and unkillable
state.

fdd93795b8 fuse: fix use-after-free in fuse_direct_IO()
commit ebacb81273 upstream.

In async IO blocking case the additional reference to the io is taken for
it to survive fuse_aio_complete(). In non blocking case this additional
reference is not needed, however we still reference io to figure out
whether to wait for completion or not. This is wrong and will lead to
use-after-free. Fix it by storing blocking information in separate
variable.

This was spotted by KASAN when running generic/208 fstest.

0799a93d30 fuse: Fix use-after-free in fuse_dev_do_write()
commit d2d2d4fb1f upstream.

7996b1c0ea fuse: Fix use-after-free in fuse_dev_do_read()
commit bc78abbd55 upstream.

We may pick freed req in this way:

[cpu0]                                  [cpu1]
fuse_dev_do_read()                      fuse_dev_do_write()
   list_move_tail(&req->list, ...);     ...

   ...                                  request_end(fc, req);
   ...                                    fuse_put_request(fc, req);

263508c101 fuse: Fix oops at process_init_reply()
commit e8f3bd773d upstream.

This is because deactivate_locked_super() is called before response for

before resetting fc->sb.

6465d7688c fuse: umount should wait for all requests
commit b8f95e5d13 upstream.

fuse_abort_conn() does not guarantee that all async requests have actually
finished aborting (i.e. their ->end() function is called). This could
actually result in still used inodes after umount.

Add a helper to wait until all requests are fully done. This is done by
looking at the "num_waiting" counter. When this counter drops to zero, we
can be sure that no more requests are outstanding.

67a9e4870c fuse: Don't access pipe->buffers without pipe_lock()
commit a2477b0e67 upstream.

fuse_dev_splice_write() reads pipe->buffers to determine the size of
'bufs' array before taking the pipe_lock(). This is not safe as
another thread might change the 'pipe->buffers' between the allocation
and taking the pipe_lock(). So we end up with too small 'bufs' array.

Move the bufs allocations inside pipe_lock()/pipe_unlock() to fix this.

12715f3ef1 fuse: fix control dir setup and teardown
commit 6becdb601b upstream.

syzbot is reporting NULL pointer dereference at fuse_ctl_remove_conn() [1].
Since fc->ctl_ndents is incremented by fuse_ctl_add_conn() when new_inode()
failed, fuse_ctl_remove_conn() reaches an inode-less dentry and tries to
clear d_inode(dentry)->i_private field.

Fix by only adding the dentry to the array after being fully set up.

When tearing down the control directory, do d_invalidate() on it to get rid
of any mounts that might have been added.

ebdc37febe fuse: atomic_o_trunc should truncate pagecache
commit df0e91d488 upstream.

Fuse has an "atomic_o_trunc" mode, where userspace filesystem uses the
O_TRUNC flag in the OPEN request to truncate the file atomically with the
open.

In this mode there's no need to send a SETATTR request to userspace after
the open, so fuse_do_setattr() checks this mode and returns. But this
misses the important step of truncating the pagecache.

Add the missing parts of truncation to the ATTR_OPEN branch.

fuse_dev_do_write is allocated using __get_free_pages(GFP_KERNEL).
This may not return a page with data filled with 0. Now this
page may not have a null terminator at all.
If this happens and userspace fuse daemon screws up by passing a string
to kernel which is not NULL terminated (or did not fill anything),
then inside fuse driver in kernel when we try to do
strlen(fuse_dev_write->kern_path->getname_kernel)
on that page data -> it may give us issue with kernel paging request.

8783885ea7 fuse: fix READDIRPLUS skipping an entry
commit c6cdd51404 upstream.

Marios Titas running a Haskell program noticed a problem with fuse's
readdirplus: when it is interrupted by a signal, it skips one directory
entry.

The reason is that fuse erronously updates ctx->pos after a failed
dir_emit().

The issue originates from the patch adding readdirplus support.

227559e623 fuse: initialize the flock flag in fuse_file on allocation
commit 68227c03cb upstream.

Before the patch, the flock flag could remain uninitialized for the
lifespan of the fuse_file allocation. Unless set to true in
fuse_file_flock(), it would remain in an indeterminate state until read in
an if statement in fuse_release_common(). This could consequently lead to
taking an unexpected branch in the code.

The bug was discovered by a runtime instrumentation designed to detect use
of uninitialized memory in the kernel.

fuse_file_put() was missing the "force" flag for the RELEASE request when

There is a potential race between fuse_dev_do_write()
and request_wait_answer() contexts as shown below:

TASK 1:
__fuse_request_send():
  |--spin_lock(&fiq->waitq.lock);
  |--queue_request();
  |--spin_unlock(&fiq->waitq.lock);
  |--request_wait_answer():

                                   TASK 2:
                                   fuse_dev_do_write():
                                     |--clears bit FR_SENT,
                                     |--request_end():
                                        |--sets bit FR_FINISHED
                                        |--spin_lock(&fiq->waitq.lock);
                                        |--list_del_init(&req->intr_entry);
                                        |--spin_unlock(&fiq->waitq.lock);
                                        |--fuse_put_request();
       |--queue_interrupt();
       <request gets queued to interrupts list>
            |--wake_up_locked(&fiq->waitq);
       |--wait_event_freezable();
       <as FR_FINISHED is set, it returns and then
       the caller frees this request>

Now, the next fuse_dev_do_read(), see interrupts list is not empty
and then calls fuse_read_interrupt() which tries to access the request
which is already free'd and gets the below crash:

07f0267561 fuse: fix time_to_jiffies nsec sanity check

Commit bcb6f6d2b9 ("fuse: use timespec64") introduced clamped nsec values

0181b36036 fuse: clear FR_PENDING flag when moving requests out of pending queue
commit a8a86d78d6 upstream.

fuse_abort_conn() moves requests from pending list to a temporary list
before canceling them. This operation races with request_wait_answer()
which also tries to remove the request after it gets a fatal signal. It
checks FR_PENDING flag to determine whether the request is still in the
pending list.

Make fuse_abort_conn() clear FR_PENDING flag so that request_wait_answer()
does not remove the request from temporary list.

This bug causes an Oops when trying to delete an already deleted list entry

c01638f5d9 fuse: fix clearing suid, sgid for chown()
Basically, the pjdfstests set the ownership of a file to 06555, and then
chowns it (as root) to a new uid/gid. Prior to commit a09f99edde ("fuse:
fix killing s[ug]id in setattr"), fuse would send down a setattr with both
the uid/gid change and a new mode. Now, it just sends down the uid/gid
change.

Technically this is NOTABUG, since POSIX doesn't _require_ that we clear
these bits for a privileged process, but Linux (wisely) has done that and I
think we don't want to change that behavior here.

This is caused by the use of should_remove_suid(), which will always return
0 when the process has CAP_FSETID.

In fact we really don't need to be calling should_remove_suid() at all,
since we've already been indicated that we should remove the suid, we just
don't want to use a (very) stale mode for that.

This patch should fix the above as well as simplify the logic.

d1f5323370 Merge branch 'work.splice_read' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs
Pull VFS splice updates from Al Viro:
 "There's a bunch of branches this cycle, both mine and from other folks
  and I'd rather send pull requests separately.

  This one is the conversion of ->splice_read() to ITER_PIPE iov_iter
  (and introduction of such). Gets rid of a lot of code in fs/splice.c
  and elsewhere; there will be followups, but these are for the next
  cycle... Some pipe/splice-related cleanups from Miklos in the same
  branch as well"

* 'work.splice_read' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs:
  pipe: fix comment in pipe_buf_operations
  pipe: add pipe_buf_steal() helper
  pipe: add pipe_buf_confirm() helper
  pipe: add pipe_buf_release() helper
  pipe: add pipe_buf_get() helper
  relay: simplify relay_file_read()
  switch default_file_splice_read() to use of pipe-backed iov_iter
  switch generic_file_splice_read() to use of ->read_iter()
  new iov_iter flavour: pipe-backed
  fuse_dev_splice_read(): switch to add_to_pipe()
  skb_splice_bits(): get rid of callback
  new helper: add_to_pipe()
  splice: lift pipe_lock out of splice_to_pipe()
  splice: switch get_iovec_page_array() to iov_iter
  splice_to_pipe(): don't open-code wakeup_pipe_readers()
  consistent treatment of EFAULT on O_DIRECT read/write
