eb58154715 fdt: Update CRC check for rng-seed
commit dd753d961c upstream.

Commit 428826f535 ("fdt: add support for rng-seed") moves of_fdt_crc32
from early_init_dt_verify() to early_init_dt_scan() since
early_init_dt_scan_chosen() may modify fdt to erase rng-seed.

However, arm and some other arch won't call early_init_dt_scan(), they
call early_init_dt_verify() then early_init_dt_scan_nodes().

Restore of_fdt_crc32 to early_init_dt_verify() then update it in
early_init_dt_scan_chosen() if fdt if updated.

c288318b4c fdt: add support for rng-seed
commit 428826f535 upstream.

Introducing a chosen node, rng-seed, which is an entropy that can be
passed to kernel called very early to increase initial device
randomness. Bootloader should provide this entropy and the value is
read from /chosen/rng-seed in DT.

Obtain of_fdt_crc32 for CRC check after early_init_dt_scan_nodes(),
since early_init_dt_scan_chosen() would modify fdt to erase rng-seed.

Add a new interface add_bootloader_randomness() for rng-seed use case.
Depends on whether the seed is trustworthy, rng seed would be passed to
add_hwgenerator_randomness(). Otherwise it would be passed to
add_device_randomness(). Decision is controlled by kernel config
RANDOM_TRUST_BOOTLOADER.

f457e80c5b of: Fix truncation of memory sizes on 32-bit platforms
[ Upstream commit 2892d8a00d ]

Variable "size" has type "phys_addr_t", which can be either 32-bit or
64-bit on 32-bit systems, while "unsigned long" is always 32-bit on
32-bit systems. Hence the cast in

    (unsigned long)size / SZ_1M

may truncate a 64-bit size to 32-bit, as casts have a higher operator
precedence than divisions.

Fix this by inverting the order of the cast and division, which should
be safe for memory blocks smaller than 4 PiB. Note that the division is
actually a shift, as SZ_1M is a power-of-two constant, hence there is no
need to use div_u64().

While at it, use "%lu" to format "unsigned long".

666ae7c255 of/fdt: Make sure no-map does not remove already reserved regions
[ Upstream commit 8a5a75e5e9 ]

If the device tree is incorrectly configured, and attempts to
define a "no-map" reserved memory that overlaps with the kernel
data/code, the kernel would crash quickly after boot, with no
obvious clue about the nature of the issue.

For example, this would happen if we have the kernel mapped at
these addresses (from /proc/iomem):
40000000-41ffffff : System RAM
  40080000-40dfffff : Kernel code
  40e00000-411fffff : reserved
  41200000-413e0fff : Kernel data

And we declare a no-map shared-dma-pool region at a fixed address
within that range:
mem_reserved: mem_region {
	compatible = "shared-dma-pool";
	reg = <0 0x40000000 0 0x01A00000>;
	no-map;
};

To fix this, when removing memory regions at early boot (which is
what "no-map" regions do), we need to make sure that the memory
is not already reserved. If we do, __reserved_mem_reserve_reg
will throw an error:
[ 0.000000] OF: fdt: Reserved memory: failed to reserve memory
   for node 'mem_region': base 0x0000000040000000, size 26 MiB
and the code that will try to use the region should also fail,
later on.

We do not do anything for non-"no-map" regions, as memblock
explicitly allows reserved regions to overlap, and the commit
that this fixes removed the check for that precise reason.

[ Upstream commit a5bea04fcc ]

Commit dabf6b36b8 ("of: Add OF_DMA_DEFAULT_COHERENT & select it on

if OF_DMA_DEFAULT_COHERENT is enabled. This results in the of_node_put()

check so we now we only get the node if OF_DMA_DEFAULT_COHERENT is not

4089e235fc of: Fix reserved-memory overlap detection
[ Upstream commit ca05f33316 ]

The reserved-memory overlap detection code fails to detect overlaps if
either of the regions starts at address 0x0. The code explicitly checks
for and ignores such regions, apparently in order to ignore dynamically
allocated regions which have an address of 0x0 at this point. These
dynamically allocated regions also have a size of 0x0 at this point, so
fix this by removing the check and sorting the dynamically allocated
regions ahead of any static regions at address 0x0.

For example, there are two overlaps in this case but they are not
currently reported:

	foo@0 {
	        reg = <0x0 0x2000>;
	};

	bar@0 {
	        reg = <0x0 0x1000>;
	};

	baz@1000 {
	        reg = <0x1000 0x1000>;
	};

	quux {
	        size = <0x1000>;
	};

but they are after this patch:

 OF: reserved mem: OVERLAP DETECTED!
 bar@0 (0x00000000--0x00001000) overlaps with foo@0 (0x00000000--0x00002000)
 OF: reserved mem: OVERLAP DETECTED!

ba7b9e6d14 of: Add OF_DMA_DEFAULT_COHERENT & select it on powerpc
commit dabf6b36b8 upstream.

There's an OF helper called of_dma_is_coherent(), which checks if a
device has a "dma-coherent" property to see if the device is coherent
for DMA.

But on some platforms devices are coherent by default, and on some
platforms it's not possible to update existing device trees to add the
"dma-coherent" property.

So add a Kconfig symbol to allow arch code to tell
of_dma_is_coherent() that devices are coherent by default, regardless
of the presence of the property.

Select that symbol on powerpc when NOT_COHERENT_CACHE is not set, ie.
when the system has a coherent cache.

af86cb901c of, numa: Validate some distance map rules
commit 89c38422e0 upstream.

Currently the NUMA distance map parsing does not validate the distance
table for the distance-matrix rules 1-2 in [1].

However the arch NUMA code may enforce some of these rules, but not all.
Such is the case for the arm64 port, which does not enforce the rule that
the distance between separates nodes cannot equal LOCAL_DISTANCE.

The patch adds the following rules validation:
- distance of node to self equals LOCAL_DISTANCE
- distance of separate nodes > LOCAL_DISTANCE

This change avoids a yet-unresolved crash reported in [2].

A note on dealing with symmetrical distances between nodes:

Validating symmetrical distances between nodes is difficult. If it were
mandated in the bindings that every distance must be recorded in the
table, then it would be easy. However, it isn't.

In addition to this, it is also possible to record [b, a] distance only
(and not [a, b]). So, when processing the table for [b, a], we cannot
assert that current distance of [a, b] != [b, a] as invalid, as [a, b]
distance may not be present in the table and current distance would be
default at REMOTE_DISTANCE.

As such, we maintain the policy that we overwrite distance [a, b] = [b, a]
for b > a. This policy is different to kernel ACPI SLIT validation, which
allows non-symmetrical distances (ACPI spec SLIT rules allow it). However,
the distance debug message is dropped as it may be misleading (for a distance
which is later overwritten).

Some final notes on semantics:

- It is implied that it is the responsibility of the arch NUMA code to
  reset the NUMA distance map for an error in distance map parsing.

- It is the responsibility of the FW NUMA topology parsing (whether OF or
  ACPI) to enforce NUMA distance rules, and not arch NUMA code.

a57f5010e8 of: unittest: Disable interrupt node tests for old world MAC systems
commit 8894891446 upstream.

On systems with OF_IMAP_OLDWORLD_MAC set in of_irq_workarounds, the
devicetree interrupt parsing code is different, causing unit tests of
devicetree interrupt nodes to fail. Due to a bug in unittest code, which
tries to dereference an uninitialized pointer, this results in a crash.

commit 3b9cf7905f upstream.

For strings, account for trailing \0 in property length field:

This is consistent with how dtc builds string properties.

Function __of_prop_dup() would misbehave on such properties as it duplicates
properties based on the property length field creating new string values
without trailing \0s.

a72ac679ca earlycon: Use a pointer table to fix __earlycon_table stride
commit dd709e72cb upstream.

Commit 99492c39f3 ("earlycon: Fix __earlycon_table stride") tried to fix
__earlycon_table stride by forcing the earlycon_id struct alignment to 32
and asking the linker to 32-byte align the __earlycon_table symbol. This
fix was based on commit 07fca0e57f ("tracing: Properly align linker
defined symbols") which tried a similar fix for the tracing subsystem.

However, this fix doesn't quite work because there is no guarantee that
gcc will place structures packed into an array format. In fact, gcc 4.9
chooses to 64-byte align these structs by inserting additional padding
between the entries because it has no clue that they are supposed to be in
an array. If we are unlucky, the linker will assign symbol
"__earlycon_table" to a 32-byte aligned address which does not correspond
to the 64-byte aligned contents of section "__earlycon_table".

To address this same problem, the fix to the tracing system was
subsequently re-implemented using a more robust table of pointers approach
by commits:
 3d56e331b6 ("tracing: Replace syscall_meta_data struct array with pointer array")
 6549864629 ("tracepoints: Fix section alignment using pointer array")
 e4a9ea5ee7 ("tracing: Replace trace_event struct array with pointer array")

Let's use this same "array of pointers to structs" approach for
EARLYCON_TABLE.

faf6fd7539 OF: Prevent unaligned access in of_alias_scan()
commit de96ec2a77 upstream.

When allocating a struct alias_prop, of_alias_scan() only requested that
it be aligned on a 4 byte boundary. The struct contains pointers which
leads to us attempting 64 bit writes on 64 bit systems, and if the CPU
doesn't support unaligned memory accesses then this causes problems -
for example on some MIPS64r2 CPUs including the "mips64r2-generic" QEMU
emulated CPU it will trigger an address error exception.

Fix this by requesting alignment for the struct alias_prop allocation
matching that which the compiler expects, using the __alignof__ keyword.

6ba32c648a of: fix of_device_get_modalias returned length when truncating buffers
[ Upstream commit bcf54d5385 ]

If the length of the modalias is greater than the buffer size, then the
modalias is truncated. However the untruncated length is returned which
will cause an error. Fix this to return the truncated length. If an error
in the case was desired, then then we should just return -ENOMEM.

The reality is no device will ever have 4KB of compatible strings to hit
this case.
