If the probing of the regulator is deferred, the memory allocated by
'mdiobus_alloc_size()' will be leaking.
It should be freed before the next call to 'sun4i_mdio_probe()' which will
reallocate it.

Under some circumstances driver will perform PHY reset in
ksz9031_read_status() to fix autoneg failure case (idle error count =
0xFF). When this happens ksz9031 will not detect link status change any
more when connecting to Netgear 1G switch (link can be recovered sometimes by
restarting netdevice "ifconfig down up"). Reproduced with TI am572x board
equipped with ksz9031 PHY while connecting to Netgear 1G switch.
Fix the issue by reconfiguring autonegotiation after PHY reset in
ksz9031_read_status().

The original motivation for this change originated from Marc Gonzales
indicating that his network driver did not have its adjust_link callback
executing with phydev->link = 0 while he was expecting it.
PHYLIB has never made any such guarantees ever because phy_stop() merely just
tells the workqueue to move into PHY_HALTED state which will happen
asynchronously.

While in RUNNING state, phy_state_machine() checks for link changes by
comparing phydev->link before and after calling phy_read_status().
This works as long as it is guaranteed that phydev->link is never
changed outside the phy_state_machine().
If in some setups this happens, it causes the state machine to miss
a link loss and remain RUNNING despite phydev->link being 0.
This has been observed running a dsa setup with a process continuously
polling the link states over ethtool each second (SNMPD RFC-1213
agent). Disconnecting the link on a phy followed by a ETHTOOL_GSET
causes dsa_slave_get_settings() / dsa_slave_get_link_ksettings() to
call phy_read_status() and with that modify the link status - and
with that bricking the phy state machine.
This patch adds a fail-safe check while in RUNNING, which causes to
move to CHANGELINK when the link is gone and we are still RUNNING.

For proper IRQ generation by DP83867 phy the INT/PWDN pin has to be
programmed as an interrupt output instead of a Powerdown input in
Configuration Register 3 (CFG3), Address 0x001E, bit 7 INT_OE = 1. The
current driver doesn't do this and as result IRQs will not be generated by
DP83867 phy even if they are properly configured in DT.
Hence, fix IRQ generation by properly configuring CFG3.INT_OE bit and
ensure that Link Status Change (LINK_STATUS_CHNG_INT) and Auto-Negotiation
Complete (AUTONEG_COMP_INT) interrupt are enabled. After this the DP83867
driver will work properly in interrupt enabled mode.

The PHY library does not deal very well with bind and unbind events. The first
thing we would see is that we were not properly canceling the PHY state machine
workqueue, so we would be crashing while dereferencing phydev->drv since there
is no driver attached anymore.

Marc reported that he was not getting the PHY library adjust_link()
callback function to run when calling phy_stop() + phy_disconnect()
which does not indeed happen because we set the state machine to
PHY_HALTED but we don't get to run it to process this state past that
point.
Fix this with a synchronous call to phy_state_machine() in order to have
the state machine actually act on PHY_HALTED, set the PHY device's link
down, turn the network device's carrier off and finally call the
adjust_link() function.

The Generic PHY driver is a catch-all PHY driver and it should preserve
whatever prior initialization has been done by boot loader or firmware
agents. For specific PHY device configuration it is expected that a
specialized PHY driver would take over that role.
Resetting the generic PHY was a bad idea that has lead to several
complaints and downstream workarounds e.g: in OpenWrt/LEDE so restore
the behavior prior to 87aa9f9c61 ("net: phy: consolidate PHY
reset in phy_init_hw()").

The function, skb_complete_tx_timestamp(), used to allow passing in a
NULL pointer for the time stamps, but that was changed in commit
62bccb8cdb ("net-timestamp: Make the
clone operation stand-alone from phy timestamping"), and the existing
call sites, all of which are in the dp83640 driver, were fixed up.
Even though the kernel-doc was subsequently updated in commit
7a76a021cd ("net-timestamp: Update
skb_complete_tx_timestamp comment"), still a bug fix from Manfred
Rudigier came into the driver using the old semantics. Probably
Manfred derived that patch from an older kernel version.
This fix should be applied to the stable trees as well.

The commit ("net/phy: micrel: Add workaround for bad autoneg") fixes an
autoneg failure case by resetting the hardware. This turns off
intterupts. Things will work themselves out if the phy polls, as it will
figure out it's state during a poll. However if the phy uses only
intterupts, the phy will stall, since interrupts are off. This patch
fixes the issue by calling config_intr after resetting the phy.

The Marvell driver incorrectly provides phydev->lp_advertising as the
logical and of the link partner's advert and our advert. This is
incorrect - this field is supposed to store the link parter's unmodified
advertisment.
This allows ethtool to report the correct link partner auto-negotiation
status.

USB PHYs need the MDIO clock divisor enabled earlier to work.
Initialize mdio clock divisor in probe function. The ext bus
bit available in the same register will be used by mdio mux
to enable external mdio.

being applied to many other Marvell PHYs as well. Limit its scope to

The DP83867 seems to be always in an internal mode on our Board.
This mode can cause connection problems. We disable this mode.
Unfortunately, Register 0x31 Bit 7 is not documented and marked as reserved.
If Bit 7 is set, phy is in the internal testing mode.

With FORCE_LINK_GOOD we are not able to get a link.
According to the TRM this bit should be 0 (Normal operation) in default.
Set FORCE_LINK_GOOD to default.

Currently dp83867 driver returns error if phy interface type
PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII_RXID is used to set the rx only internal
delay. Similarly issue happens for PHY_INTERFACE_MODE_RGMII_TXID.
Fix this by checking also the interface type if a particular delay
value is missing in the phy dt bindings. Also update the DT document
accordingly.

to set CLK_OUT for different channels.

The DP83867 when not properly bootstrapped - especially with LED_0 pin -
can enter N/A MODE4 for "port mirroring" feature.
To provide normal operation of the PHY, one needs not only to explicitly
disable the port mirroring feature, but as well stop some IC internal
testing (which disables RGMII communication).
To do that the STRAP_STS1 (0x006E) register must be read and RESERVED bit
11 examined. When it is set, the another RESERVED bit (11) at PHYCR
(0x0010) register must be clear to disable testing mode and enable RGMII
communication.

This patch adds support for enabling or disabling the lane swapping (called
"port mirroring" in PHY's CFG4 register) feature of the DP83867 TI's PHY
device.
One use case is when bootstrap configuration enables this feature (because
of e.g. LED_0 wrong wiring) so then one needs to disable it in software
(at u-boot/Linux).

When initializing the PHY control register, the FIFO depth bits are
written without reading the previous register value, i.e. all other
bits are overwritten with zero. This disables automatic MDI-X
configuration, which is enabled by default. Fix initialization by doing
a read/modify/write operation.

Device tree properties for a phy device are expected to be in the phy
node. The current code for the DP83867 also tries to look in the
parent node. The devices binding documentation does not mention this,
no current device tree file makes use of this, and it is not behaviour
we want. So remove looking in the parent device.

This patch is prompted by a static checker warning about a potential
use after free. The concern is that netif_rx_ni() can free "skb" and we
call it twice.
When I look at the commit that added this, it looks like some stray
lines were added accidentally. It doesn't make sense to me that we
would recieve the same data two times. I asked the author but never
recieved a response.
I can't test this code, but I'm pretty sure my patch is correct.

If the PHY is halted on stop, then do not set the state to PHY_UP. This
ensures the phy will be restarted later in phy_start when the machine is
started again.

Commit a1cba5613e ("net: phy: Add Broadcom phy library for common
interfaces") make the BCM63xx PHY driver utilize bcm_phy_config_intr()
which would appear to do the right thing, except that it does not write
to the MII_BCM63XX_IR register but to MII_BCM54XX_ECR which is
different.
This would be causing invalid link parameters and events from being
generated by the PHY interrupt.

This reverts:
commit 33c133cc75 ("phy: IRQ cannot be shared")
On hardware with multiple PHY devices hooked up to the same IRQ line, allow
them to share it.
Sergei Shtylyov says:
"I'm not sure now what was the reason I concluded that the IRQ sharing
was impossible... most probably I thought that the kernel IRQ handling
code exited the loop over the IRQ actions once IRQ_HANDLED was returned
-- which is obviously not so in reality..."

PHY status frames are not reliable, the PHY may not be able to send them
during heavy receive traffic. This overflow condition is signaled by the
PHY in the next status frame, but the driver did not make use of it.
Instead it always reported wrong tx timestamps to user space after an
overflow happened because it assigned newly received tx timestamps to old
packets in the queue.
This commit fixes this issue by clearing the tx timestamp queue every time
an overflow happens, so that no timestamps are delivered for overflow
packets. This way time stamping will continue correctly after an overflow.

mdiobus_alloc() might return NULL, but its return value is not
checked in mdio_mux_init(). This could potentially lead to a NULL
pointer dereference. Fix it by checking the return value

commit 8b63ec1837 ("phylib: Make PHYs children of their MDIO bus,
not the bus' parent.") changed the parenting of PHY devices, making
them a child of the MDIO bus, instead of the MAC device. This broken
the Micrel PHY driver which has a deprecated feature of allowing PHY
properties to be placed into the MAC node.
In order to find the MAC node, we need to walk up the tree of devices
until we find one with an OF node attached.

It is possible to address another chip on same MDIO bus. The case is
correctly handled for media advertising. It is taken into account
only if mii_data->phy_id == phydev->addr. However, this condition
was missing for reset case.

Commit fcb26ec5b1 ("broadcom: move all PHY_ID's to header")
updated broadcom_tbl to use PHY_IDs, but incorrectly replaced 0x0143bca0
with PHY_ID_BCM5482 (making a duplicate entry, and completely omitting
the original). Fix that.
