Current failure path neglects to mutex_destroy() before returning
an error due to an invalid parameter or an error received from
gpiochip_add(). This patch aims to remedy that behaviour.

This patch provides some superficial changes to the driver to
aid with readability and maintainability. We're mostly fixing
things like white-space errors, spreading out code which as
been clumped together impeding readability and comment layout,
such as using the new "/**" comment start for function headers
etc. No code semantics were harmed in the making of this patch.

Currently in the empty abx500_pin_config_get() function, we're
returning -EINVAL, with a comment stating that the reason for the
failure is that the function isn't implemented yet. Well there's
a proper return code for that. If we use it, we can do away with
the comment too, as it would be implied.

The BIT() macro provides a simple and easy to read way of
obtaining bit offsets into things like masks and hardware
registers. In this patch we're simply replacing all
instances of '1 << x' with 'bit(x)'.

On MX23 the XFER_COUNT part in ctrl0 field in DMA descriptor was
improperly OR'd during the construction of DMA descriptor chain, instead
of being freshly set. Because of that too many bytes were being
expected from SPI during the last DMA cycle. This caused a timeout
(SSP_TIMEOUT) to happen in the processing of the last DMA descriptor,
and thus reads and writes were failing. This is a fix for the problem,
by clearing XFER_COUNT bytes in ctrl0 before setting the new XFER_COUNT
for DMA descriptor.

The spi core make sure that each transfer structure have the proper
setting for bits_per_word before calling low level transfer APIs.
Hence it is no more require to check again in low level driver for
this field whether this is set correct or not. Removing such code
from low level driver.
The txx9 change also removes a test for bits_per_word set to 0, and
forcing it to 8 in that case. This can also be removed now since
spi_setup() ensures spi->bits_per_word is not zero.

Linux assigns a number to each spi_master in the system, but when the
platform used the device tree, the numbers are dynamically assigned and
are not predictable. In general this shouldn't matter since the kernel
doesn't use the bus number for anything other than matching a bus to
spi_boardinfo (not used for DT). However, sometimes userspace needs to
figure out which bus is which, so it makes sense to use the global
/aliases namespace to choose a specific bus number.
It is safe to derive the bus number from an alias because aliases will
never cause two buses to try and use the same bus number. (At one time
the cell-index property was used for this purpose, but cell-index has
the risk of an id collision).

No actual errors have been found for completing
before disabling DMA request lines, but it just
looks more semantically correct that on our DMA
callback we quiesce the whole thing before stating
transfer is finished.

Pull full-dynticks (user-space execution is undisturbed and
receives no timer IRQs) preparation changes that convert the
cputime accounting code to be full-dynticks ready,
from Frederic Weisbecker:
"This implements the cputime accounting on full dynticks CPUs.
Typical cputime stats infrastructure relies on the timer tick and
its periodic polling on the CPU to account the amount of time
spent by the CPUs and the tasks per high level domains such as
userspace, kernelspace, guest, ...
Now we are preparing to implement full dynticks capability on
Linux for Real Time and HPC users who want full CPU isolation.
This feature requires a cputime accounting that doesn't depend
on the timer tick.
To implement it, this new cputime infrastructure plugs into
kernel/user/guest boundaries to take snapshots of cputime and
flush these to the stats when needed. This performs pretty
much like CONFIG_VIRT_CPU_ACCOUNTING except that context location
and cputime snaphots are synchronized between write and read
side such that the latter can safely retrieve the pending tickless
cputime of a task and add it to its latest cputime snapshot to
return the correct result to the user."

These days, GUIs such as Gnome sound settings want to be able to
show the correct jack status even when no streams are currently
running. I doubt this gives any measurable difference in power,
but if it does, the "Jack Detect" control can still be used to
turn polling off.

The VT1708 has no unsol event capability, and polling is set using
the "Jack Detect" alsamixer control. In order not to create
phantom Jack controls, temporary enable jackpoll during build_controls.

By running a test on all the traces of the devices I have,
I noticed that the class MT_CLS_ALWAYS_TRUE could handle all
the devices I've seen so far without any other quirks.
I guess this is the behavior Win 7 requires in its driver.
We can change the default class then and keep the existing classes
for backward compatibility and performances for some of them.
Two operations have been done:
* replaced MT_CLS_DEFAULT by MT_CLS_NSMU
* then replaced MT_CLS_ALWAYS_TRUE by MT_CLS_DEFAULT

The serial protocol makes contact count a redondant information, and
sometimes it is not reliable (TRS-Star are in this case).
Disabling the use of contact count for these devices is thus safer.

The Sharp LC-20FE1-W screen (04dd:9681) behaves like the Nexio 42".
It may report out of ranges values that are filtered out by relying
on the Contact Count HID field.
Adding the quirk MT_QUIRK_CONTACT_CNT_ACCURATE makes hid-multitouch
strongest against this kind of device, without breaking the current
devices.

This device is the worst device I saw. It keeps TipSwitch and InRange
at 1 for fingers that are not touching the panel.
The solution is to rely on the field ContactCount, which is accurate
as the correct information are packed at the begining of the frame.
Unfortunately, CountactCount is most of the time at the end of the report.
The solution is to pick it when we have the whole report in raw_event.

Nexio 42" devices requires to rely on the HID field Contact
Count to compute the valid values. However, this field is
most of the time at the end of the report, meaning that we
need to get the all report parsed before processing it.
This patch does not introduce functional changes.

This callback is called when the parsing of the report has been done
by hid-core (so after the calls to .event). The hid drivers can now
have access to the whole report by relying on the values stored in

hrtimer_enqueue_reprogram contains a race which could result in
timer.base switch during unlock/lock sequence.
hrtimer_enqueue_reprogram is releasing the lock protecting the timer
base for calling raise_softirq_irqsoff() due to a lock ordering issue
versus rq->lock.
If during that time another CPU calls __hrtimer_start_range_ns() on
the same hrtimer, the timer base might switch, before the current CPU
can lock base->lock again and therefor the unlock_timer_base() call
will unlock the wrong lock.

Since mesh_plink_quiesce() would unconditionally delete
the plink timer, and the timer initialization was recently
moved into the mesh code path, suspending with a non-mesh
interface now causes a crash. Fix this by only deleting
the plink timer for mesh interfaces.

Fix the use of USART on both at91sam9x5 and at91sam9n12. In DTS, the
atmel,use-dma-[rx|tx] property is present but a DMA channel cannot be used.
Indeed the connexion between the DMA engine and the slave is not implemented
yet in Device Tree.
Note however that this property is also used for PDC (private DMA) on older
SoCs. This is why the driver alone cannot determine the validity of this
property.

The mxc-timer on the imx25 needs to be derived from the AHB clock.
If a bootloader reparents this clock to the ipg_clk_highfreq, which according
to the datasheet is a valid operation, the system can/will produce lockups/
freezes after some time [1].
This can be forced with code like

This was already fixed with the commit

for 3.1-rc2, but was lost, when i.MX was converted to the common clock framework

This fixes an incorrect size check that triggered for CONFIG_COMPAT
whether the code was actually doing compat or not. The incorrect write
size check broke userland (clvmd) when maximum resource name lengths are
used.

The rmb in the Tx cleanup path is a much stronger barrier than we really need.
All that is really needed is a read_barrier_depends since the location of the
EOP descriptor is dependent on the eop_desc value.

This patch removes the rval variable returns from function and replaces
them with direct returns in ixgbe_dcbnl_getnumtcs. It also changes how
ixgbe_gstrings_test is copied into data with memcpy in ixgbe_get_strings
because "*ixgbe_gstrings_test too small (32 vs 160)".

The seccomp filters are currently built for the build host, not for the
machine that they are going to run on, but they are also built for with
the -m32 flag if the kernel is built for a 32 bit machine, both of which
seems rather odd.
It broke allyesconfig on my machine, which is x86-64, but building for
32 bit ARM, with this error message:

because there are no 32 bit libc headers installed on this machine. We
should really be building all the samples for the target machine rather
than the build host, but since the infrastructure for that appears to be
missing right now, let's be a little bit smarter and not pass the '-m32'
flag to the HOSTCC when cross- compiling.

Commit 74349bcced ("checkpatch: add support for floating point
constants") added an unnecessary match variable that caused tests that
used a $Constant or $LvalOrFunc to have one too many matches.
This causes problems with usleep_range, min/max and other extended
tests.
Avoid using match variables in $Float.
Avoid using match variables in $Assignment too.

The macro for_each_memcg_cache_index contains a silly yet potentially
deadly mistake. Although the macro parameter is _idx, the loop tests
are done over i, not _idx.
This hasn't generated any problems so far, because all users use i as a
loop index. However, while playing with an extension of the code I
ended using another loop index and the compiler was quick to complain.
Unfortunately, this is not the kind of thing that testing reveals =(
