The Linux kernel currently implements the GARP VLAN Registration
Protocol (GVRP) from IEEE 802.1Q-1998 (applicant-only participant).
When the GVRP flag is set for a VLAN interface on a Linux host, the
host advertises its membership in the VLAN to the attached bridge/
switch, so that it is not necessary to manually configure the bridge/
switch port to participate in the VLAN.
GVRP has been superseded by the Multiple VLAN Registration Protocol
(MVRP) in IEEE 802.1Q-2011, which addresses scalability concerns about
the earlier protocol. The following patches add support for MVRP to
the Linux kernel and iproute2 utility. They are based largely off of
the existing implementation of GVRP, but have been modified for the
new PDU structure and state machine.
This implementation was tested with two Juniper EX4200 switches.

At the moment, macvtap crashes are observed if macvtap is attached
to an interface with LRO enabled.
The crash in question is BUG() in macvtap_skb_to_vnet_hdr.
This happens because several drivers set gso_size but not gso_type
in incoming skbs.
This didn't use to be the case: with intel cards on 3.2 and older
kernels, with qlogic - on 3.4 and older kernels, so it's a regression if
not a recent one.
The following patches fix this for qlogic, broadcom and intel drivers.
I tested that the patch fixes the crash for ixgbe but
don't have qlogic/broadcom hardware to test.
I also only tested TCPv4.
Please review, and consider for 3.8.

With this patch the stmmac fails in case of the phy device
is not found; w/o this fix the mdio can be register twice when

In an effort to improve the out-of-the-box experience with Linux kernels for
VMware users, VMware is working on readying the VM Sockets (VSOCK, formerly
VMCI Sockets) (vsock) kernel module for inclusion in the Linux kernel. The
purpose of this post is to acquire feedback on the vsock kernel module.
Unlike previous submissions, where the new socket family was entirely reliant
on VMware's VMCI PCI device (and thus VMware's hypervisor), VM Sockets is now
completely[1] separated out into two parts, each in its own module:
o Core socket code, which is transport-neutral and invokes transport
callbacks to communicate with the hypervisor. This is vsock.ko.
o A VMCI transport, which communicates over VMCI with the VMware hypervisor.
This is vmw_vsock_vmci_transport.ko, and it registers with the core module
as a transport.
This should provide a path to introducing additional transports, for example
virtio, with the ultimate goal being to make this new socket family
hypervisor-neutral.

VM Sockets allows communication between virtual machines and the hypervisor.
User level applications both in a virtual machine and on the host can use the
VM Sockets API, which facilitates fast and efficient communication between
guest virtual machines and their host. A socket address family, designed to be
compatible with UDP and TCP at the interface level, is provided.
Today, VM Sockets is used by various VMware Tools components inside the guest
for zero-config, network-less access to VMware host services. In addition to
this, VMware's users are using VM Sockets for various applications, where
network access of the virtual machine is restricted or non-existent. Examples
of this are VMs communicating with device proxies for proprietary hardware
running as host applications and automated testing of applications running
within virtual machines.
The VMware VM Sockets are similar to other socket types, like Berkeley UNIX
socket interface. The VM Sockets module supports both connection-oriented
stream sockets like TCP, and connectionless datagram sockets like UDP. The VM
Sockets protocol family is defined as "AF_VSOCK" and the socket operations
split for SOCK_DGRAM and SOCK_STREAM.

We do the truncate via setattr request, hence don't pass the O_TRUNC flag in
open request. Without this patch we end up sending zero sized write request
to server when we try to truncate. Some servers (VirtFS) were not handling that
properly.

... is really excessive. First of all, ->readdir() is serialized by
file->f_path.dentry->d_inode->i_mutex; playing with file->f_path.dentry->d_lock
is not buying you anything. Moreover, rdir->mutex is pointless for exactly
the same reason - you'll never see contention on it.
While we are at it, there's no point in having rdir->buf a pointer -
you have it point just past the end of rdir, so it might as well be a flex
array (and no, it's not a gccism).

This update adds a debugfs interface to modify a pin configuration
for a given state in the pinctrl map. This allows to modify the
configuration for a non-active state, typically sleep state.
This configuration is not applied right away, but only when the state
will be entered.
This solution is mandated for us by HW validation: in order
to test and verify several pin configurations during sleep without
recompiling the software.

The iSMT (Intel SMBus Message Transport) supports multi-master I2C/SMBus,
as well as IPMI. It's operation is DMA-based and utilizes descriptors to
initiate transactions on the bus.
The iSMT hardware can act as both a master and a target, although this
driver only supports being a master.

By default there should be no stop bit on I2C between single messages
within transfers. Fix the driver to comply and only send a stop bit at
the end of transfers or if I2C_M_STOP is set.

This patch drops the i2c timing tables from this driver and instead
derives the timing based from the requested clock sleep. The timing
tables were completely wrong anyway when observed on a scope.
This new algorithm is also only derived by using a scope, but it seems
to produce much more accurate result.

Add AESS memory bank data in hwmod in order to provide memory address
information to the driver.
This version also changes the AESS main clock to use a
non-CLKCTRL-based functional clock. These are being removed from the
clock data, since they should be handled by the IP block integration
code. Without this change, the kernel crashes during boot. Thanks to
Tony Lindgren for reporting this during a test merge.

Enable the AESS auto-gating control bit during AESS hwmod setup. This
fixes the following boot warning on OMAP4:
omap_hwmod: aess: _wait_target_disable failed
Without this patch, the AESS IP block does not indicate to the PRCM
that it is idle after it is reset. This prevents some types of SoC
power management until something sets the auto-gating control bit.

Add a basic header file for the TI AESS IP block, located in the OMAP4
Audio Back-End subsystem.
Currently, this header file only contains a function to enable the
AESS internal clock auto-gating. This will be used by a subsequent
patch to ensure that the AESS won't block the entire chip
low-power-idle mode. We wish to be able to place the AESS into idle
even when no AESS driver has been compiled in.

After setup/enable, some IP blocks need some additional setting to
indicate the PRCM that they are inactive until they are configured.
Some examples on OMAP4 include the AESS and FSUSB IP blocks.
To fix this cleanly, this patch adds another optional function
pointer, enable_preprogram, to the IP block's hwmod data. The function
that is pointed to is called by the hwmod code immediately after the
IP block is reset.
This version of the patch includes a patch description fix from Felipe.

The kernel might be invoked through the reset vector, so to
preserve parameters passed to it, temp regs that are not
in the function parameter range needs to be used.

i.MX6 Quad and i.MX6 DualLite is similar enough to share one dtsi
file, so rename imx6q.dtsi to imx6qdl.dtsi preparing for the addition
of imx6dl support.
Another member of i.MX6 series i.MX6 SoloLite is different enough
from the other two, so it will stand as a separate dtsi. That's why
we rename to imx6qdl.dtsi not imx6.dtsi.

For ANATOP LDOs, vddcpu, vddsoc and vddpu
have step time settings in the misc2 register, need
to add necessary step time info for these three LDOs,
then regulator driver can add necessary delay based on
these settings.

Update operating-points per hardware document and add support for
1 GHz and 1.2 GHz frequencies.
400 MHz, 800 MHz and 1 GHz should be supported by all i.MX6Q chips,
while 1.2 GHz support needs to know from OTP fuse bit.

This mxs usbphy is only needs to be on after system boots
up, and software never needs to control it anymore.
Meanwhile, usbphy's parent needs to be notified if usb
is suspend or not. So we design below mxs usbphy usage:
- usbphy1_gate and usbphy2_gate:
Their parents are dummy clock, we only needs to enable
it after system boots up.
- usbphy1 and usbphy2
Usage reserved bit for this clock, in that case, the refcount
will be updated, but without hardware changing.
