  garbage or undefined [core.uninitialized.Assign]

                                ^ ~~~
soc is set by calling calc_soc.
But calc_soc can return without setting soc.

So check the return status and bail similarly to other
checks in pm860x_init_battery and initialize soc to
silence the warning.

8a802f88d6 power: supply: lp8788: Fix an error handling path in 'lp8788_charger_probe()'

In the probe function, in case of error, resources allocated in
'lp8788_setup_adc_channel()' must be released.

This can be achieved easily by using the devm_ variant of
'iio_channel_get()'.
This has the extra benefit to simplify the remove function and to axe the
'lp8788_release_adc_channel()' function which is now useless.

regmap is a library function that gets selected by drivers that need
it. No driver modules should depend on it. Depending on REGMAP_I2C makes
this driver only build if another driver already selected REGMAP_I2C,
as the symbol can't be selected through the menu kernel configuration.

e2d2121daa power: supply: ltc2941-battery-gauge: fix use-after-free 
commit a60ec78d30 upstream.

This driver's remove path calls cancel_delayed_work().
However, that function does not wait until the work function
finishes. This could mean that the work function is still
running after the driver's remove function has finished,
which would result in a use-after-free.

Fix by calling cancel_delayed_work_sync(), which ensures that
that the work is properly cancelled, no longer running, and
unable to re-schedule itself.

This issue was detected with the help of Coccinelle.

d9d4ff1e70 power: supply: Init device wakeup after device_add()

We may want to use the device pointer in device_init_wakeup() with
functions that expect the device to already be added with device_add().
For example, if we were to link the device initializing wakeup to
something in sysfs such as a class for wakeups we'll run into an error.
It looks like this code was written with the assumption that the device
would be added before initializing wakeup due to the order of operations
in power_supply_unregister().

Let's change the order of operations so we don't run into problems here.

06ecc01186 power: supply: sysfs: prevent endless uevent loop with CONFIG_POWER_SUPPLY_DEBUG

Fix a similar endless event loop as was done in commit
8dcf32175b ("i2c: prevent endless uevent loop with
CONFIG_I2C_DEBUG_CORE"):

  The culprit is the dev_dbg printk in the i2c uevent handler. If
  this is activated (for instance by CONFIG_I2C_DEBUG_CORE) it results
  in an endless loop with systemd-journald.

  This happens if user-space scans the system log and reads the uevent
  file to get information about a newly created device, which seems
  fair use to me. Unfortunately reading the "uevent" file uses the
  same function that runs for creating the uevent for a new device,
  generating the next syslog entry

Both CONFIG_I2C_DEBUG_CORE and CONFIG_POWER_SUPPLY_DEBUG were reported
in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76886 but only former
seems to have been fixed. Drop debug prints as it was done in I2C
subsystem to resolve the issue.

According to [1] and [2], the temperature values are in tenths of degree
Celsius. Exposing the Celsius value makes the battery appear on fire:

  ...
      temperature:         236.9 degrees C

Tested on OLPC XO-1 and OLPC XO-1.75 laptops.

360d2163cb power: vexpress: fix corruption in notifier registration 
[ Upstream commit 09bebb1adb ]

Vexpress platforms provide two different restart handlers: SYS_REBOOT
that restart the entire system, while DB_RESET only restarts the
daughter board containing the CPU. DB_RESET is overridden by SYS_REBOOT
if it exists.

notifier_chain_register used in register_restart_handler by design
relies on notifiers to be registered once only, however vexpress restart
notifier can get registered twice. When this happen it corrupts list
of notifiers, as result some notifiers can be not called on proper
event, traverse on list can be cycled forever, and second unregister
can access already freed memory.

So far, since this was the only restart handler in the system, no issue
was observed even if the same notifier was registered twice. However
commit 6c5c0d48b6 ("watchdog: sp805: add restart handler") added
support for SP805 restart handlers and since the system under test
contains two vexpress restart and two SP805 watchdog instances, it was
observed that during the boot traversing the restart handler list looped
forever as there's a cycle in that list resulting in boot hang.

This patch fixes the issues by ensuring that the notifier is installed
only once.

ca26509b5a power: generic-adc-battery: check for duplicate properties copied from iio channels

If an iio channel defines a basic property, there are duplicate entries
in /sys/class/power/*/uevent.

So add a check to avoid duplicates. Since all channels may be duplicates,
we have to modify the related error check.

We did have sporadic problems in the pinctrl framework during boot
where a pin group name unexpectedly became NULL leading to a NULL
dereference in strcmp.

Detailled analysis of the failing cases did reveal that there were
two devm allocated objects close to each other. The second one was
the affected group_desc in pinmux and the first one was the
psy_desc->properties buffer of the gab driver.

Review of the gab code showed that the address calculation for
one memcpy() is wrong. It does

	properties + sizeof(type) * index

but C is defined to do the index multiplication already for
pointer + integer additions. Hence the factor was applied twice
and the memcpy() does write outside of the properties buffer.
Sometimes it happened to be the pinctrl and triggered the strcmp(NULL).

Anyways, it is overkill to use a memcpy() here instead of a simple
assignment, which is easier to read and has less risk for wrong
address calculations. So we change code to a simple assignment.

If we initialize the index to the first free location, we can even
remove the local variable 'properties'.

This bug seems to exist right from the beginning in 3.7-rc1 in

Allow platform-code to disable the reset on probe and suspend/resume
by setting a "disable-reset" boolean device property on the device.

There are several reasons why the platform-code may want to disable
the reset on probe and suspend/resume:

1) Resetting the charger should never be necessary it should always have
sane values programmed. If it is running with invalid values while we
are not running (system turned off or suspended) there is a big problem
as that may lead to overcharging the battery.

2) The reset in suspend() is meant to put the charger back into default
mode, but this is not necessary and not a good idea. If the charger has
been programmed with a higher max charge_current / charge_voltage then
putting it back in default-mode will reset those to the safe power-on
defaults, leading to slower charging, or charging to a lower voltage
(and thus not using the full capacity) while suspended which is
undesirable. Reprogramming the max charge_current / charge_voltage
after the reset will not help here as that will put the charger back
in host mode and start the i2c watchdog if the host then does not do
anything for 40s (iow if we're suspended for more then 40s) the watchdog
expires resetting the device to default-mode, including resetting all
the registers to there safe power-on defaults. So the only way to keep
using custom charge settings while suspending is to keep the charger in
its normal running state with the i2c watchdog disabled. This is fine
as the charger will still automatically switch from constant current
to constant voltage and stop charging when the battery is full.

3) Besides never being necessary resetting the charger also causes
problems on systems where the charge voltage limit is set higher then the
reset value, if this is the case and the charger is reset while charging
and the battery voltage is between the 2 voltages, then about half the
time the charger gets confused and claims to be charging (REG08 contains
0x64) but in reality the charger has decoupled itself from VBUS (Q1 off)
and is drawing 0A from VBUS, leaving the system running from the battery.

This last problem is happening on a GPD-win mini PC with a bq24292i
charger chip combined with a max17047 fuel-gauge and a LiHV battery.
I've checked and TI does not list any errata for the bq24292i which
could explain this (there are no errata at all).

If the charger is unplugged before the battery is full we may
see an over/under voltage fault. Ignore this rather then emitting
a message or uevent.

This fixes messages like these getting logged on charger unplug + replug:

If an error occurs when we enable the backup battery charging, we should
go through the error handling path directly.

Before commit db43e6c473 ("ab8500-bm: Add usb power path support") this
was the case, but this commit has added some code between the last test and
the 'out' label.
So, in case of error, this added code is executed and the error may be
silently ignored.

Fix it by adding the missing 'goto out', as done in all other error
handling paths.

7f2b4ad9c0 power: supply: bq24190_charger: Don't read fault register outside irq_handle_thread() 
commit 68abfb8015 upstream.

Caching the fault register after a single I2C read may not keep an accurate
value.

Fix by doing two reads in irq_handle_thread() and using the cached value
elsewhere. If a safety timer fault later clears itself, we apparently don't get
an interrupt (INT), however other interrupts would refresh the register cache.

From the data sheet: "When a fault occurs, the charger device sends out INT
 and keeps the fault state in REG09 until the host reads the fault register.
 Before the host reads REG09 and all the faults are cleared, the charger
 device would not send any INT upon new faults. In order to read the
 current fault status, the host has to read REG09 two times consecutively.
 The 1st reads fault register status from the last read [1] and the 2nd reads
 the current fault register status."

[1] presumably a typo; should be "last fault"

Fix the issue by installing IRQ handler at the end of the probe.

d8d6aedd54 power: supply: bq24190_charger: Fix irq trigger to IRQF_TRIGGER_FALLING 
commit 767eee362f upstream.

The interrupt signal is TRIGGER_FALLING. This is is specified in the
data sheet PIN FUNCTIONS: "The INT pin sends active low, 256us
pulse to host to report charger device status and fault."

Also the direction can be seen in the data sheet Figure 37 "BQ24190
with D+/D- Detection and USB On-The-Go (OTG)" which shows a 10k
pull-up resistor installed for the sample configurations.
