The AES-NI code contains fallbacks for invocations that occur from a context where the SIMD unit is unavailable, which really only occurs when running in softirq context that was entered from a hard IRQ that was taken while running kernel code that was already using the FPU. That means performance is not really a consideration, and we can just use the new library code for this use case, which has a smaller footprint and is believed to be time invariant. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
