This is _not_ an upstream commit and just for 5.4.y only. It is based on commit32ef9e5054upstream. Alexey reported that the fraction of unknown filename instances in kallsyms grew from ~0.3% to ~10% recently; Bill and Greg tracked it down to assembler defined symbols, which regressed as a result of: commitb8a9092330("Kbuild: do not emit debug info for assembly with LLVM_IAS=1") In that commit, I allude to restoring debug info for assembler defined symbols in a follow up patch, but it seems I forgot to do so in commita66049e2cf("Kbuild: make DWARF version a choice") Fixes:b8a9092330("Kbuild: do not emit debug info for assembly with LLVM_IAS=1") Signed-off-by: Nick Desaulniers <ndesaulniers@google.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
