The problem is that "mac_id" is a u32 so this check for underflow does
not work when "mac_id" is zero. In that situation, "mac_id - 1" is
UINT_MAX instead of -1 so the condition is true. It leads to an
array underflow on the next line.

There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
