commit0a4ec6aa03upstream. The commit78eaa10f02("cpuidle: powernv/pseries: Auto-promotion of snooze to deeper idle state") introduced a timeout for the snooze idle state so that it could be eventually be promoted to a deeper idle state. The snooze timeout value is static and set to the target residency of the next idle state, which would train the cpuidle governor to pick the next idle state eventually. The unfortunate side-effect of this is that if the next idle state(s) is disabled, the CPU will forever remain in snooze, despite the fact that the system is completely idle, and other deeper idle states are available. This patch fixes the issue by dynamically setting the snooze timeout to the target residency of the next enabled state on the device. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
