When the MCA banks in __mcheck_cpu_init_generic() are polled for leftover errors logged during boot or from the previous boot, its required to have CPU features detected sufficiently so that the reading out and handling of those early errors is done correctly. If those features are not available, the decoding may miss some information and get incomplete errors logged. For example, on SMCA systems the MCA_IPID and MCA_SYND registers are not logged and MCA_ADDR is not masked appropriately. To cure that, do a subset of the basic feature detection early while the rest happens in its usual place in __mcheck_cpu_init_vendor(). Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
