The AMD PerfMonV2 specification allows for a maximum of 16 GP counters, but currently only 6 pairs of MSRs are accepted by KVM. While AMD64_NUM_COUNTERS_CORE is already equal to 6, increasing without adjusting msrs_to_save_all[] could result in out-of-bounds accesses. Therefore introduce a macro (named KVM_AMD_PMC_MAX_GENERIC) to refer to the number of counters supported by KVM. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
