Building a riscv kernel with CONFIG_FUNCTION_TRACER and CONFIG_MODVERSIONS enabled results in these two warnings: MODPOST vmlinux.o WARNING: EXPORT symbol "return_to_handler" [vmlinux] version generation failed, symbol will not be versioned. WARNING: EXPORT symbol "_mcount" [vmlinux] version generation failed, symbol will not be versioned. When exporting symbols from an assembly file, the MODVERSIONS code requires their prototypes to be defined in asm-prototypes.h (see scripts/Makefile.build). Since both of these symbols have prototypes defined in linux/ftrace.h, include this header from RISC-V's asm-prototypes.h. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
