commitba87977a49upstream. Commitb7ce40cff0("kernfs: cache atomic_write_len in kernfs_open_file") changes type of local variable 'len' from ssize_t to size_t. This change caused that the *ppos value is updated also when the previous write callback failed. Mentioned snippet: ... len = ops->write(...); <- return value can be negative ... if (len > 0) <- true here in this case *ppos += len; ... These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
