commit64dbc122b2upstream Somehow the swapgs mitigation entry code patch ended up with a JMPQ instruction instead of JMP, where only the short jump is needed. Some assembler versions apparently fail to optimize JMPQ into a two-byte JMP when possible, instead always using a 7-byte JMP with relocation. For some reason that makes the entry code explode with a #GP during boot. Change it back to "JMP" as originally intended. be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
