commiteda4eabf86upstream. Commit3aa6c19d2f("xen/balloon: Support xend-based toolstack") tried to fix a regression with running on rather ancient Xen versions. Unfortunately the fix was based on the assumption that xend would just use another Xenstore node, but in reality only some downstream versions of xend are doing that. The upstream xend does not write that Xenstore node at all, so the problem must be fixed in another way. The easiest way to achieve that is to fall back to the behavior before commit96edd61dcf("xen/balloon: don't online new memory initially") in case the static memory maximum can't be read. This is achieved by setting static_max to the current number of memory pages known by the system resulting in target_diff becoming zero. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
