[ Upstream commitd4ba1ff87b] Make sure to allocate resources needed before registering the device. This specifically avoids having a racing open() trigger a BUG_ON() in mod_timer() when ath11k_mac_op_start() is called before the mon_reap_timer as been set up. I did not see this issue with next-20220310, but I hit it on every probe with next-20220511. Perhaps some timing changed in between. Here's the backtrace: [ 51.346947] kernel BUG at kernel/time/timer.c:990! [ 51.346958] Internal error: Oops - BUG: 0 [#1] PREEMPT SMP ... Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
