commitb854cc659dupstream. The function ovl_dir_real_file() currently uses the inode lock to serialize writes to the od->upperfile field. However, this function will get called by ovl_ioctl_set_flags(), which utilizes the inode lock too. In this case ovl_dir_real_file() will try to claim a lock that is owned by a function in its call stack, which won't get released before ovl_dir_real_file() returns. Fix by replacing the open coded compare and exchange by an explicit atomic op. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
