commitb022f0c7e4("tracing/kprobes: Return EADDRNOTAVAIL when func matches several symbols") avoids checking number_of_same_symbols() for module symbol in __trace_kprobe_create(), but create_local_trace_kprobe() should avoid this check too. Doing this check leads to ENOENT for module_name:symbol_name constructions passed over perf_event_open. ``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:

There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
