[ Upstream commit23d9f5531c] NFP supports fairly enormous ring sizes (up to 256k descriptors). In commit4662717038("nfp: use kvcalloc() to allocate SW buffer descriptor arrays") we have started using kvcalloc() functions to make sure the allocation of software state arrays doesn't hit the MAX_ORDER limit. Unfortunately, we can't use virtual mappings for the DMA region holding HW descriptors. In case this allocation fails instead of the generic (and fairly scary) warning/splat in the logs print a helpful message explaining what happened and suggesting how to fix it. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
