commitef775a0e36upstream. When CONFIG_PROC_FS is not set, there is a build warning (turned into an error): ../drivers/hwmon/dell-smm-hwmon.c: In function 'i8k_init_procfs': ../drivers/hwmon/dell-smm-hwmon.c:624:24: error: unused variable 'data' [-Werror=unused-variable] struct dell_smm_data *data = dev_get_drvdata(dev); Make I8K depend on PROC_FS and HWMON (instead of selecting HWMON -- it is strongly preferred to not select entire subsystems). Build tested in all possible combinations of SENSORS_DELL_SMM, I8K, and PROC_FS. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
