commit1c3b2a27deupstream. The bug is here: if (nvkm_cstate_valid(clk, cstate, max_volt, clk->temp)) return cstate; The list iterator value 'cstate' will *always* be set and non-NULL by list_for_each_entry_from_reverse(), so it is incorrect to assume that the iterator value will be unchanged if the list is empty or no element is found (In fact, it will be a bogus pointer to an invalid structure object containing the HEAD). Also it missed a NULL check at callsite and may lead to invalid memory access after that. To fix this bug, just return 'encoder' when found, otherwise return NULL. And add the NULL check. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
