commite2ec512825upstream. DM was calling generic_fsdax_supported() to determine whether a device referenced in the DM table supports DAX. However this is a helper for "leaf" device drivers so that they don't have to duplicate common generic checks. High level code should call dax_supported() helper which that calls into appropriate helper for the particular device. This problem manifested itself as kernel messages: dm-3: error: dax access failed (-95) when lvm2-testsuite run in cases where a DM device was stacked on top of another DM device. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
