commit01ea173e10upstream. XFS always inherits the SGID bit if it is set on the parent inode, while the generic inode_init_owner does not do this in a few cases where it can create a possible security problem, see commit0fa3ecd878("Fix up non-directory creation in SGID directories") for details. Switch XFS to use the generic helper for the normal path to fix this, just keeping the simple field inheritance open coded for the case of the non-sgid case with the bsdgrpid mount option. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
