commit8f8abb863fupstream. syzbot has found an uninit-value bug triggered by the dm9601 driver [1]. This error happens because the variable res is not updated if the call to dm_read_shared_word returns an error. In this particular case -EPROTO was returned and res stayed uninitialized. This can be avoided by checking the return value of dm_read_shared_word and propagating the error if the read operation failed. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
