commit2fd7b0f6d5upstream. When raid5_get_active_stripe is called with a ctx containing a stripe_head in its batch_last pointer, it can cause a deadlock if the task sleeps waiting on another stripe_head to become available. The stripe_head held by batch_last can be blocking the advancement of other stripe_heads, leading to no stripe_heads being released so raid5_get_active_stripe waits forever. Like with the quiesce state handling earlier in the function, batch_last needs to be released by raid5_get_active_stripe before it waits for another stripe_head. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
