According to the comment describing the phy_mac_interrupt() function, it it intended to be used by MAC drivers which have noticed a link change thus its use in the mscc PHY driver is improper and, most probably, was added just because phy_trigger_machine() was not exported. Now that we have acces to trigger the link state machine, use directly the phy_trigger_machine() function to notify a link change detected by the PHY driver. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
