When commit270972554c("[IPV6]: ROUTE: Add Router Reachability Probing (RFC4191).") introduced router probing, the rt6_probe() function required that a neighbour entry existed. This neighbour entry is used to record the timestamp of the last probe via the ->updated field. Later, commit2152caea71("ipv6: Do not depend on rt->n in rt6_probe().") removed the requirement for a neighbour entry. Neighbourless routes skip the interval check and are not rate-limited. This patch adds rate-limiting for neighbourless routes, by recording the timestamp of the last probe in the fib6_info itself. Fixes:2152caea71("ipv6: Do not depend on rt->n in rt6_probe().") Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
