Simon Horman reported that Koelsch and Lager hang during boot, and bisected this to commit1c3c5eab17("sched/core: Enable might_sleep() and smp_processor_id() checks early"). The da9063/da9210 regulator quirk for R-Car Gen2 boards uses a bus notifier, and unregisters the notifier when it is no longer needed. However, a notifier must not be unregistered from within the call chain. This bug went unnoticed, as blocking_notifier_chain_unregister() didn't take the semaphore during early boot. The aforementioned commit changed that behavior, leading to a deadlock. Fix this by removing the call to bus_unregister_notifier(), and keeping local completion state instead. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
